Can I turn my personal Amazon account into a business account?
How do I change my Amazon Business account back to personal?
How do I turn off Amazon Business account?
I started selling on Amazon about 10 years ago, it quickly became full time for me. We have created a wonderful business that I am grateful for. I started this business from my home office with my personal Amazon account, as many of us have. I have been using my the same internet as my family since day one. I'd like to split this so I can have some peace of mind.
I'd like to have a separate Amazon account for personal us and family use that is untied to my business.
You may read the below and laugh, you may think I am going to far. But I've built a business and have a lot of investment into my Amazon business. Yes, I have diversified, yes, Amazon is not my only source of income, but it is still a big portion of my income and I'd rather protect it proactively.
Goals:
I'd like my children to be able to use their school chromebook's at home and at school. I fear if they login at home under my current internet it could tie my Amazon account to someone else's as they login to other WIFI's including their school.
I'd like my wife and I to be able to login to WIFI while traveling without thinking my account might be linked to someone else's.
I just want to have a normal relationship with the internet. I'm always fearful of logging in to any WIFI from my phone or personal laptop.
Steps I am thinking about taking:
Get a new internet line for the house.
I would get rid of all devices that have connected to Amazon servers. TV's, phones, laptops, smart devices like ROKU's, etc. Maybe even our RING devices. I'm OK spending thousands to get this done.
Delete personal Amazon accounts (wife and sons) that have logged in to our current internet, except my main business/personal account.
Buy new devices that only connect to the new internet line.
My old internet line would be used only for my business account.
Get new personal accounts.
Buy new PC for business, have a new chrome identity that would be the only place I would login to my current business account. This would be the only device logged in to my current internet, which would be the business internet now.
Buy a new personal PC for myself and never login to the Amazon account.
Fears:
Address would be tied as I have used this address for years for my business address. I can get a new business/mailing address, not sure if that would do the trick since I have been using this address for 10 years.
My personal email has been tied to Amazon and my gmail account, cache, etc for 20 years. I feel like I am missing something here.
Changing my Amazon email on my business account wouldn't really do much.
Years ago I created an AWS account using my personal Amazon account/email. I used it for little hobby projects.
Fast forward to today: one of my side projects has taken off and is now my company and full-time job. Now I’d like to change my AWS root user email to my work email, a change I’m told will be required to accept investment (investors don’t want company-related accounts under personal emails).
I tried to change my root user email to my work email and realized I was actually changing my personal Amazon email. I don’t want to do since I’ve had that Amazon account for over a decade.
I reached out to AWS and they said there is absolutely nothing they can do. They recommended I move resources over to a new AWS account (!), a project that will take me weeks/months and almost certainly cause downtime. Unfortunately, time I don’t have as a solopreneur where speed is so important.
Is there anything I can do here? Has anyone else run into this before? Any advice?
Thanks!
After reading all the hoopla, if I'm a small buyer, reseller I'm still trying to figure out if it's worth making the switch and paying $179 per year versus $119 per year just for prime and the supposed discounts on computer hardware. Any feedback, Pros or cons? Thanks very much
