For those who are interested, here’s my experience from this weekend with the lights: you DO NOT have to cut the lights in groups of 4. I cut one strand after the first light, ran 10 feet of extension, then connected the rest of the strand and it was fine. You just have to make sure the correct number of strands is selected in settings. for some reason, when I first downloaded the app, I didn’t have the ability to select the number of strands in settings (there was only a refresh option). I’m not sure if it was because I contacted support, app update, or maybe I just totally missed it before, but all of a sudden, I started to see the strand selection option after a while. you don’t have to use ribbon cable and it doesn’t have to be 5 feet or less. I used 20AWG WIRE DEKIEVALE 20 Gauge 3 Conductor Electrical Wire, 32.8FT Black Low Voltage 20/3 Stranded Cable PVC Case, 20 AWG 3 Wire Cable Tinned Copper, Flexible Extension Cord for LED Lamp Lighting Strips Automotive https://a.co/d/8NTKeOe with these all-in-one solder wire connector/shrink tubes: 250 pcs Solder Seal Wire Connectors, BOSOIRSOU Heat Shrink Wire Connectors Self-Solder Heat Shrink Butt Connector Sleeve Waterproof Insulated Electrical Butt Splice Wire Terminals for Marine Stereo https://a.co/d/fzRuXgg and it worked perfectly, first try (I made 18 connections for my project) using a heat gun.
