Honestly, you’ll need at least 1,000 to have a real shot at success. Most of that budget will go toward ads so you can test as many products as possible. My best tip would be to use spy tools to spot winning products—but skip the mainstream ones like Minea or PipiAds since everyone’s watching the same stuff. I personally use SpyTrends.net it’s pretty under the radar, and their method for finding winners is unique. My last two winners came from there. Good luck Answer from Amine_ik on reddit.com

r/dropship on Reddit: How Can I Start Without Money?
March 21, 2016 -

^ May sound as a guide, but I'm actually asking for help. I could tell my whole life story, but in short - I'm 17 years old, had to left school because of depression issues, and I'm now searching for a way to get money. Found about dropshipping, already did some research, i plan to sell Gaming Related products - but how can i sell anything without money, not being a US citizen? As much as i could tell, it seems that i need to find:

A supplier to buy from A way to sell

My problem is - how do i gain acess to supplies without money? I found a lot of sites with supplies, but i need to buy them, so I'm guessing i need money to start. Any tips regarding this?

I can't work outside home for health issues and i don't have anything to sell, being poor. How can a teenager with no money start it's own business? I have a PayPal acc with 2 dollars from selling art, but my pc recently broke and i can't sell anymore.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for this giant text.

Save up, leverage your skills to make some money or Start your business from 0. It is not impossible, lemme land. You just would need to put in a little more work. You can start from Shopify 1 week free trial. At this stage, your aim is to build your store and make sure everything is on point and ready to go out. Shopify tells you, you can sell from the first week but from experience if you are on a free trial, you can't. Depending on who you are, you might finish setting up your store in the first 3-4 days. Use the remaining days to research about the products you are about to sell and create a tiktok account and also a pinterest account After the week, is a £1/month for three months before the real charges start. Now in this 3months you want to try and get enough sales because you will be paying like £36 every month from there. Post videos on tiktok about your products, make it catchy to gain more views and followers. BE CONSISTENT!! Even if you get 1000views in the start that is fine, keep posting you will see improvement. If you do not have about 500followers I am not sure you can put a link in Bio so keep pushing and let them know they can DM you to receive a link to the product. Until you can put a link in Bio. Now for pinterest, if you link to shopify, you get free 100 coins at the start which you can use to advertise your products. But make sure you keep checking how much coins you have left and cancel when you do not have money to fund it otherwise they will charge you as well. That is the only thing I missed when i tried but i was lucky to have made decent number of sales. Pinterest brought the most customers to my store compared to tiktok. But it is usually the other way, I guess my content was not good enough. A little busy but will try continue when I am free or you can DM. Also remember, the fact that it worked for me does not mean it will work for you. In the beginning of the year, I remember asking a similar question to what you just asked. Not the answers I expected. Some people told me to DM them and I nearly got scammed. Just Beware. Good luck!

Dies anyone have any success with starting a store under $100 because I'm sure there are ways to get everything for cheaper. For example:

  • 2 months free trial on reddit (check top posts of all time and you'll see it somewhere)

  • Domains from other websites like Go daddy which do £1 offers.

  • Free advertising from using Instagram and posting in forums

  • Free Shopify Themes

  • Basic Free Apps to help Shopify Store look clean and professional

There seems to be a decent amount of ways to start absolutely free but I want to know if anyone else has had a successful store from starting with very little money or if it's possible at all.If you have ,how long did it take to get your first sale, what did you do for advertising on a small budget, what was your budget,do you think it was worth it or should I just spend a couple months saving up a couple hundred?

Yes, I started 3.5 years ago with that much. First sale in 3 days using google ads at $10 per day. Only money I have ever put into my business and it has support my family as my sole income for most of that time I wouldn’t suggest starting this way but it’s all I had at the time. You just need to get creative

If you go into paid advertising you can’t expect to be successful with only a few hundred dollars. You need to set aside an already existing income to start. $500-$1000 in ads a month should be enough to start. Don’t wait, start now with organic traffic. The least amount of money required to start dropshipping is $12. You use a Shopify development store which is free and the same as the basic plan with minimal limitations. Next you use Zoho for free email hosting with your custom email address. Finally you will advertise organically using primarily Instagram. You can also spend $60 down and $6 a month for an Instagram bot such as followliker which will make the process much easier in getting followers. This is how I’ve been dropshipping for the past year and have made a few hundred profit per month on my first store and sold it. After many months of testing primarily organic traffic driven stores and testing different niches on Instagram, I’m now on my 5th or 6th store. On average it takes about 2 months before I start getting sales. It’s not easy but I believe brand building is much more important than making a quick buck with a general store and FB ads.

I heard lots of people say they spend so much money on ads to get their store running and bring customers so does that mean that i could start a shopify store however it wouldn’t work well if i don’t spend so much money on ads ?

Which means that a successful dropshipping store can’t succeed with 0$ at first? ( with 0$ i don’t include the shopify subscription costs those have to be payed)

Someone please tell me what they think based on their experience or knowledge ?

Gee, wow! I saw this Facebook ad yesterday and watched a webinar (I got the LAST spot available - talk about luck!) and now I’m ready to start a dropshipping empire. I don’t have any money but I heard that I don’t need to - you can start up for free! And I don’t know anything about the internet but I heard that it’s easy to build a store with Shoplify and EBay and AlyExpress. Just some Facebook ads (which are cheap - like $5 a month!!), and you’re off!

My questions are this:

  1. Why haven’t I made any sales? All my products are the same as my competition and I copied and pasted their descriptions and ads. Why aren’t I getting their sales???

  2. Can someone here build my store for me??? Write my copy?? I just want to make money and honestly this is starting to feel like a real job and stuff and I just want money lol

So yeah so thanks guys I’m starting my dropshipping podcast/blog/YouTube Guru platform next week and working on a book to dropshipping successs. Hope you’ll check it out.

No links to my store - no stealing my million dollars idea!!

I've been researching and working on dropshipping, acquiring knowledge and a detailed understanding of how things work and what I need to do once I'm in the middle of it, but I still struggle to understand what to start with. My budget is tight. 100$ max. I can reinvest everything I make for a month or so but that's all I have to start with.

Where do I get started practically and how do I spend my money in the right place to get into it?

P.s: I do plan to do organic marketing until I can push out a handful of sales enough to reinvest back and try for better strategies

Think of a Venn diagram of three intersecting circles. First circle is "Cheap". Second circle is "Fast". Third circle is "Viable". You can only choose two. Your options are: Cheap & Fast = Not Viable Fast & Viable = Not Cheap Cheap & Viable = Not Fast Your situation would be the third in the list. If you don't have much money to work with, and you obviously need for your store to actually be viable, you'll therefore need time to make it work. Lots and lots of time. Time to figure out your audience & competitors (you need to understand them to be able to sell properly). Time to create a beautiful & viable image presentation (you need a proper & appropriate presentation for your audience). Time to grow your followers organically on social media (as you lack funds to spend on ads). Time needed to learn essential skills (photo manipulation, copywriting, HTML/CSS scripting, maybe a bit of programming, some amount of IT, etc..). Time enough to plan everything out, sometimes months ahead. And so on. If you don't have the money to spend on ads, to hire designers, or to hire programmers, then you'll have to handle things yourself. It's not all bad tho. If you put in the same amount of effort and determination into learning and handling those aspects yourself, as you currently are with your workouts, you'll probably be able to craft an image that beats everyone else's store here out of the water. But that's for later. Your initial steps is to first understand your target audience. And that means doing research. Not "product research" like folks thinks is useful, but actual research with audience & competitors. You need to do it right. So for a given niche or product you're planning on offering, you need to find out your target audience's core data. Including who they are, what they do, their ages, where they're from, their income, what they want, what they hate, what brands they're loyal to, what brands they hate, and so on. Each of those pieces of information is critically important for your venture. Eg. If their income is high, you can maybe get away with charging a higher price, or offering high-ticket products. If you know what they hate, you can tailor your offers to avoid or even counter that. If you know what they do, you'll have options & possibilities on what you can potentially offer. And so on. Essentially you have to put yourself in their shoes, and put their mindset into yours. You need to completely immerse yourself in their situations and lives, and figure out what makes them tick. That's when you'll know whether your products are actually viable or not, what sorts of impression (brand image) responds to them, where they frequent, and so on. After that, you do the same for your competitors. This means who they are, what they do, what they sell, how they present themselves, who they target, their branding strategy, their marketing strategy, their communication strategy, and so on. You get excellent knowledge from seeing what lessons they learnt, and what you can avoid, saving you time and money. Your research findings is precious. It contains valuable information that'll allow anyone to make real money from it. So suggest keeping it to yourself, and not sharing with anyone. Once you find out everything you can about both your audience and competitors, you can then start building your brand image. Not just a fancy looking store theme and a new logo, but an actual image that your specific audience wants. This means name, logo, color-scheme, store style, store presentation, store feel, product selections, product presentation, product descriptions, prices, blogs, articles, maybe videos, who you are, what you do, your raison d'etre, how you communicate with your audience, what social media platforms you're on, how you conduct and implement your marketing & promotion strategies, and so on. Each and every single one of these will need to be based on your research findings. Your $100 will last you a couple months on Shopify ($25 monthly), assuming you don't use ads. If you decide to play with ads, it won't last you very long until it's gone. Suggest increasing that while you conduct your audience-competitor research. If you simply can't, then you need to play your cards right, and stretch it as long as possible. One way might be to host your store on Woocommerce instead. Easy to use hosts like Greengeeks works out to around $15 per month or something. If you have IT skills and are familiar with servers, you can host at DigitalOcean for like $4-$6 per month.

To get started with dropshipping on a tight budget of $100, you can follow these steps: Research and choose a niche: Choose a product or a category of products you want to sell. Select a platform: Decide on an ecommerce platform to create your online store. Popular options include Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce. Choose a supplier: Look for suppliers who offer dropshipping and have products in your chosen niche. You can use platforms like AliExpress, SaleHoo, and Doba to find suppliers. Set up your store: Use your chosen ecommerce platform to set up your store. Make sure you have a professional-looking website with a clear product offering, detailed product descriptions, and high-quality images. Start marketing: Use social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and paid advertising to drive traffic to your store. Monitor performance: Regularly check your store's performance and make changes as needed. Pay close attention to your margins and optimize your pricing to ensure profitability. Reinvest: Use the profits you make to improve your store, invest in marketing and advertising, and add more products to your offerings.

I’m not suggesting it would be free forever or that there wouldn’t be a cut that a platform would take in order to use it when you make a sale.

Is there anything like a company that lets you use the pictures of their products, then you put it on eBay, let the company know when it sells, then you keep whatever you get after paying for that individual product and the eBay fees?

I’m not saying this would be crazily profitable at all. Just looking for a way to get started on limited resources.

It's going to be almost impossible to do it with $0, but can be done fairly cheep to start. Just reinvest your profits after each sale. Shopify is doing a $1/month deal for 3 months if you sign up for a new account, so it should give you some time to build up enough sales for that first actual monthly payment.

That being said, your expenses will be mainly advertising. It's usually ran $/day, so it's literally up to you how much you want to invest per day, week, month, etc.

Find a niche, find a problem, find a solution, find a way to advertise it.

There are pleeeenntttyyyy of product pictures on suppliers websites that they allow you to use for free. Some products have 5+ per varient, some have 1. Some even have videos that they allow you to use for free.

Also there's tons of info on YouTube on how to find a niche, solve a problem, advertise, and even how to build your Shopify store step by step to make it appealing and (theoretically) successful. AC Hampton is one of my favorites if you need a place to start. Don't sign up for a bunch of gurus free email list until you have a second phone number and email address. They will bombard your line all day. Also, most of them ask for a large amount of money. Ask me how I know. Anyways, hope this helps. If it makes you feel any better, this is just what I've learned in the past few months.

r/dropship on Reddit: How I went from $0 to $25k a month dropshipping
December 8, 2016 -

Hey everyone! Instead of coming by and dropping some random tips, I thought it might be useful to show you a month to month playbook of my dropshipping journey. I started back in January, didn't know what I was doing and lost money. Now I'm making almost $25k a month in revenue with 40% profits. In this post I've attached a screenshot of my earnings every single month since the beginning and will give a brief outline of what I did each month to grow. Hope this helps!

BTW, this is with a niche store (sorry not giving out the link!)

January - $643: I had no idea what I was doing. I heard about dropshipping on Reddit and decided to try it. Initially I did a free + shipping offer on a baseball cap and I got some decent sales but lost money because of ad spend. Was using Facebook ads only at the time.

February -$3,000: After running the free + shipping offer, people started buying other things on my store. It became clear to me what items people wanted, so I ran single image ads to them and this greatly boosted sales. I also began doing work on SEO this month. That included writing small blog articles, rewriting product descriptions, etc.

March - $6,900: My SEO from the prior work started to pick up so I began getting free traffic from Google searches which increased sales. I also started and Instagram page to build an audience related to my niche that I occasionally promote products to.

April - $13,200: I was able to double my revenue during this month. My previous job was working as a programmer, so I wrote a complex web crawler that search the web to find me winning products. Saved me tons of time and allowed me to test a lot more products. I found some new winners this way which increased sales. I also began running re-targeting facebook campaigns at this point and learning more about effective advertising.

May - $18,400: I added an upsell app to my store which increased my average order value from $20 to $45. I also discovered a new "sub-niche" for my store when browsing results from my web scraper bot. This allowed me to target a whole new audience and product more sales.

June - $15,800: Sales decreased a little bit this month. This was largely because I had recently moved and didn't have a ton of free time to work on the business. Things like being slow to answer customers, not optimizing ads, etc. can all add up to a revenue loss! Totally my fault.

July - $25,000: My best month yet! After a loss of revenue in June, I decided to crack down. I scaled all my Facebook ads up a ton and it didn't end up hurting my conversion cost. I also found another "sub-niche" that contained multiple winning products. I think my lesson here was that I was previously too scared to mess with my winning ads, which included scaling. It obviously worked out in my favor when I decided to get out of my comfort zone!

Key Takeaways:

  1. Focus on multiple sources of revenue. I have a lot of sales coming from places like Pinterest, Google searches, my Instagram account, etc. Try not to get caught up in only doing Facebook ads.

  2. If you have a skill, use it. Anything you can do that others can't will get you ahead of everyone else who's doing the same thing. In my case, I'm a programmer and was able to create the product finding bot.

  3. Find winning products. 80% of your revenue will come from 20% of your products! This means you need to find that handful of best sellers that you can rely on to bring you sustainable income. Test, test and test some more. Browse other successful stores to see what they sell.

  4. Don't be lazy. It takes hard work and thinking outside of the box! You saw what happened in June when I slacked off. Keep pushing forward and the results will be endless. I could easily maintain the business spending 15 minutes a day on it, but it took a lot of hours to get there.

I hope this helps! 📷🙂

Edit: I don't sell courses so please don't PM me asking! I'm always open to answering questions in the comments so it helps others too.
