I am using an hp laptop and they release bios updates usually through their website or support assistant app.I usually dont update since its of very little use and they are risky. But this time they decided to roll it out through windows update and it was named "firmware update".I had no idea it was bios update and it didnt even warn of any consequences. Is there any way to stop this shit?.Other updates are not risky and in case of problems i could have reinstalled the whole thing.I contacted hp and they wont take responsibility if something goes wrong(which may even cause the whole laptop to brick) and they wont give as an option not to update.Cant believe how a company could do this.

Hi, good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.
Note: It is always recommended to download and install drivers from the manufacturer's Support page. If you're not experiencing any hardware issues, there's no need to install this driver update.
Please try using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver updates. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the BIOS driver update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

I'm not tech savvy at all and I really can't afford to lose my laptop, so simple terms please
Last two updates my laptop has had has involved HP having a "system update" and then telling me to install the latest BIOS whatever. Both times I have hit cancel. I don't want it. If I wanted it, I would do whatever it is you have to do to update it, on my own terms, not through Windows Update
Is there a way to turn this off just for that one thing? I know I need other updates (not Windows 11 though) but I'm afraid it's going to force me to update. And I know you have to do stuff with flashing and whatnot (IDK what that means) and it could brick your device. So I just, don't want to have a heart attack every time I'm prompted to update
