Do not wash this part with water. It contains a motor and electronics. There isn't really an easy way to clean it beyond a full disassembly to remove the water sensitive components. Best you can try without a disassembly is trying to wipe it out with a slightly damp cloth.

Animal 3 Head cleaning
Did you run it under the tap..? That looks like there is water in there and it’s is REALLY BAD to run it under the tap. You can’t remove the cylinder (it houses the motor and the wires). Only way to clean the head really deeply is to take the whole thing apart which I do not recommend doing as I done it to mine and it was an absolute nightmare to get it back together. If you have run it under water anyway, leave it to dry for a few days. It should be ok but put the brush back in and make sure it spins. You clean the clear window, you should get a damp cloth and while the brush roller is in, try and roll the cloth round to clean the top. (Do this by hand do not turn the machine on to do this…) More on reddit.com

This seems to be a product defect still present in two of the models I’ve tried upon purchase. For me, it requires sitting down, pulling the part with the button on the top of the hose all the way up, ensuring the button is facing forward and then slowly sliding the top down. If I try to do it standing, I can’t make it work.

I don't know this specific model, but with the dyson "turbine head", it goes like this: flip over, slide the slider and twist the two knobs, then detach the lower cover. clean sand and dust, and manually remove long fibres from the rotating brush (cut them if necessary). Maybe yours has similar ways to open? HTH.
