What Mr Benhami Yengari is very true.This has happened to my daughter’s DC 40 upright.I have stripped it down to the belt and seen the bearing sized with hair.I had to buy the whole new brushbar ($95),This unit has issues and Dyson should be able to supply all different parts that go into brushbar unit—screws,brushes,belt,bearings, motor and center drive wheel ... I also agree with these two comments. I took apart the Brush bar and yes indeed the hair trapped in it from my Daughters hair burned off the plastic bearing housing as well. Seems like this is a very common problem around the multi floor 2 since all second hand listings claim the brush in the Cleaner head doesn’t work.

This seems to be a product defect still present in two of the models I’ve tried upon purchase. For me, it requires sitting down, pulling the part with the button on the top of the hose all the way up, ensuring the button is facing forward and then slowly sliding the top down. If I try to do it standing, I can’t make it work.

April 11, 2021 - Good luck ❤️ ... I would do the simple things first, check the contacts going to the brush-roll. If they look good with no corrosion or build up then I would get a multimeter and see if there is any voltage actually going to the brush-roll.

I inherited a Dyson Multi-floor 2 but it has a strange issue I have not been able to find online. It turns on fine and once reclined, the beater bar begins to spin as normal (suction at base relatively weak). However, it switches suction to the handle as if it is in upright position and the beater bar continues to spin (as it is in the reclined position). I have taken it apart to check for clogs, ran it without the filter, and made sure that the canister is empty but the issue persists. Any ideas on troubleshooting? Thanks!

Have you removed the hose completely from the back of the machine and checked down the hole where the hose was? Have you removed the screw in the clear window section on the machine under the bin and checked nothing in there? Check the change over tube under the machine its the bit thats just under the hose. when in the upright postion its supposed to point to the hose, when its reclined its supposed to point towards the internal hose that attaches to the cleaner head. Sounds like something is caught around there. Worst case scenerio the change over needs replacing.

I replaced the brush. It sounds like it’s wobbly or something. The brush goes for a few seconds then stops. I’ve cleaned everything. Except I have not taken the black spinner things that hold onto the brush
The black spinner thing works fine without the brush. Suction is fine. What do I do????

Take the black cogs which drive the brush off. There's always substantial hair build up under them. Might need to disassemble the entire head at this point, or consider replacing the entire head assembly if its worth the cost and time savings for you.

Sounds like your brush head motor is failing, easiest thing to do in this situation is to replace the entire cleaner head :)
