Your friend also has to have a PayPal account with their bank account linked though to transfer the money you sent to it. But you can certainly send money (or buy something) without needing to add money first. Just select the payment method from your PayPal account when you send. Alternatively, you may use Xoom.com, a PayPal Service, to send money with your PayPal balance and the other payment methods in your PayPal account, when available, directly to friend’s bank account without friend needing a PayPal account.

I receive payments through Paypal often and have always been able to easily transfer to my checking account with the 3-5 business day wait.
This morning I go to transfer $ to my checking account and discover the "send to bank account" action will only redirect to a Xoom signup page. I'm not a huge fan of sending my earnings through a random service I've never heard of before and feel discomforted by how Xoom seems to be primarily an international money transfer service.
Is Xoom now a mandatory part of Paypal's money transfer to domestic bank account? Is there a different menu I'm missing?

Am I in the F-ing twilight zone!? THERE IS NO WALLET. THERE IS NO CLICK TRANSFER MONEY. THERE IS NO CLICK TRANSFER TO YOUR BANK. THERES NOT EVEN A DANG BALANCE SECTION THAT I CAN CLEARLY SEE IT.
