Hi,
try doing the following steps in cmd.
If you want to disable your laptop keyboard permanently, you can disable your laptop’s built-in keyboard driver PS/2 i8042prt service using the Command Prompt. We'll use the sc command-line utility to configure the service and set its start parameter to disabled.
To disable the laptop keyboard permanently:
- Press the Win keyand type cmdin the Windows search bar.
- Right-click onCommand Promptand select Run as Administrator. Click Yeswhen the UAC prompt appears.
- In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:
sc config i8042prt start= disabled - When the success message appears, close the Command Prompt, and restart your PC. After the restart, your laptop keyboard will stop registering any inputs.
Note that, for this to work, you will need to uninstall your keyboard from Device Manager as shown above and restart your PC.
If you change your mind and want to re-enable the keyboard, you can use the following command in an elevated command prompt.
sc config i8042prt start= auto
Once you see the success message, restart your PC to apply the changes.
it work tysm!!
Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.
One possible workaround is to change the power settings so that the power button is set to shut down the computer when pressed. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Control Panel and go to Power Options.
- Click on "Choose what the power button does" from the left-hand side menu.
- Under "When I press the power button", select "Shut down" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on "Save changes" to apply the new setting.
After making this change, you should be able to turn off your computer using the power button even when it is locked at the Windows lock screen.
However, I would like to caution you that turning off your computer directly from the power button can result in data loss or other issues if you have unsaved work or programs running in the background. It is always best to properly shut down your computer to avoid any potential problems.
Hello Hussain. I'm Greg, I understand the problem and have dealt with it before.
This is a reason I program my Power button to Hibernate rather than Shut Down. It offers more convenience because you don't have to worry about leaving anything out since it writes the session from RAM to the hiberfile before shutting down, and will work instead of Shut Down from the Lock Screen. It also starts up faster and puts everything back like it was.
Otherwise if you want to Shut Down from Lock Screen you'd have to use the Power icon in the bottom right corner, which will only appear if you tap the screen. Then you tap the Power icon, then Shutdown - three taps.
If you want to suggest changing this to Microsoft you may be able to help improve this product/experience by using the Feedback Hub in the Start Menu apps list. Although they won't see it here in the forums, Microsoft developers DO read feedback from customers that comes in via the Feedback Hub, so that is a great way to share your thoughts on how to better serve you as a customer.
Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
