I have a Dell Inspiron 16 with an Intel Core Ultra 155h and when installing Fedora 42 I got a Black Screen and I need a way to turn it off, My laptop doesn’t have a power button all I need is a way to get to the boot menu I can’t open it up or else my dad will kill me.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Radhika,
I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Windows does not have a setting for that, but on a Dell laptop there is usually a setting in BIOS causing the laptop to power on when the lid is opened.
Start your laptop, then repeatedly press the F2 key to boot into BIOS and look for a setting to power up when the lid is opened.
That is what I understood you to mean, in BIOS that setting will be enabled, if you want to stop that behaviour, you need to turn off that setting in BIOS.
I know this might be a strange request, but I prefer having the ability to force off the laptop by holding the power button rather than the touchscreen confirmation to shutdown.
Is there a way to make it force a shutdown? I tried renaming the exe, but then holding the power button for some time just makes it go to sleep instead.
