So I not only want to unpair my Apple Watch, I want to sell it an use a totally different smart watch. I wrongly assumed that once I reset my old iPhone to factory settings and did the same with the Apple Watch I would be good to go. But apparently it's not that simple.
But my husband still has an iPhone. So I'm wondering if I pair my AppleWatch to his iPhone by signing in with my ID then unpair it, will that resolve the issue?

First, reset and erase the watch. This will unpair it from the iPhone automatically. Then, go to iCloud.apple.com and make sure to remove the watch from your iCloud account. This should disable Activation Lock allowing the person who buys the watch to set it up under their Apple ID

I’ve an a series 3 Apple Watch a few years now, but I stopped wearing it 3/4 years ago. I decided to start wearing it again and long story short it won’t unpair. It was connected to my old phone that I don’t have anymore, so I erased the watch to use on my current phone. When I use the app to pair it to my current phone it won’t complete the unpairing process. The app keeps starting the process from the beginning again. It’s under the same Apple account and have tried everything from their website to try sort the problem, any help would be really appreciated!

So, after changing phones for work to a Samsung I have a redundant Apple Watch.
I charged it up and performed the reset and erase all data option. I took it the local CEX to sell on but they said it was still paired to the old iPhone and it couldn't be reset properly.
I don't have an iPhone now to reset it and when I try to log into my account online, it says it will send a verification code to my apple devices, which I no longer have any.
Is there anyway I can properly reset the watch without an iPhone or my apple account?

2 things. Go to icloud.com. When it asks for your 2 factor code click where it says find my iPhone at the bottom of the screen. Under devices at the top click and find your watch. Wait for an X to appear beside the watch or after clicking the watch click remove from account. After that proceed to do the reset and erase a second time and you should be good. If you don't know your apple ID password your SOL.
