I’ve never tried updating the bios on my builds before, so I am totally new to what risks I might run into. I don’t NEED to update, as I’m still using my 3700x and 6900xt, which work fine. But I want to try Smart Access Memory and need a newer version of bios to enable it.
Are there risks with this set up/mobo when updating the bios? What’s the easiest process to update and what would you suggest I do as a precaution before updating?
Any help or experience would be appreciated!
Hi guys, I am finally getting down to do a Bios update for my X570 Pro bought in 2020. Never did any update until now, I think current version is 2000 something.
I am running a Ryzen 5900X and an RTX3080, no overclocking or special configs.
Reason why I am doing it is that I am getting a few crashes on some games which may be related to bios not being updated, besides a 5 year update might not be a bad thing.
The question is whether this beta version is fine or should I update to the latest non-beta 5021?
Also, any particular tips for this operation? Never did a bios update before but it seems reasonably easy.
Thanks

posted a little while ago about my PC. It was a CPU issue, but I got a new one/upgrade, but the bios isn't up to date for it. What on earth do I do? I don't want to buy another old working CPU, nor do I want to. Im so tired of this unending PC of misery, if any of you have any ideas it would be much appreciated.
Hey so i recently bought a x570 prime pro and im wondering do i need an older cpu in order to bios update ? im currently looking to add a ryzen 9 5900x on it only problem is that i dont know if it will work or i can atleast access the bios so i can update it
I have bought a Prime X570-P motherboard that I want to pair with a 5800x. I just found out that my mobo might not necessarily have the latest BIOS update that is needed to run a 5000 series CPU. I know this has the EZ Flash 3 feature that allows me to update the BIOS through the internet. My question is, will the motherboard allow me to do that with a Zen 3 CPU installed with an existing BIOS that doesn't support it?
My first question is that when I built this PC with this motherboard, I required a ryzen 3000 CPU to update my motherboard for my 5800x. If I were to update again would my PC not run with my 5800x, requiring a 3000 series to boot?
My next question is that on the ASUS website there are many download options. See from the screenshot below.
I saw a video on how to update the bios with the first download link by loading it onto a USB. However, what about the rest of the downloads? How do those work? Do I load it on the same USB and do it through bios as well? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!
I bought asus prime x570 pro and am thinking of buying a ryzen 7 5800x but I don’t know if my motherboard that I got in December has the new bios update that supports it and does bios flashback exist on this motherboard I need to know or should I buy a ryzen 9 3900x please
I'm looking to upgrade my processor soon from a Ryzen 7 3700x to a Ryzen 7 5800x3D.
My mobo (Asus X570 Prime Pro) needs to update to at least BIOS 4021 to support it (4204 for it to run well), but the notes for 4005 say it supports windows 11 by default.
Am I gonna run into issues running windows 10 with the updated BIOS? I have no desire to "upgrade" my OS.
Hello, Today I updated my motherboard bios to the newest version and after doing so it couldn’t detect any bootable options. I had to enable CSM in the boot options for it to detect my nvme. Is that normal and can it stay like this?
Hi,
Just want to ask what's the latest stable or atleast acceptable current BIOS version you have? I'm currently on 2802 but wanted to upgrade to the latest - 4021. Also, is it safe to update directly from 2802 to 4021?
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
ASUS X570 Prime Pro
G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3
Thanks!
Hi so I got the ryzen 5600x now I’m looking for a motherboard.
And wel the PRIME X570-PRO would totally fit with my case. The nzxt h700 white case.
But I can’t find any info if it supports a bios update without a cpu. I can’t rely on it having the latest bios and I now have an i5 6600k. So no supported cpu to use to update the bios.
Does anyone know if it does support that function?
Hey so I recently bought a Ryzen 5 5600x to match my Asus Prime X570-P but I don’t think that motherboard comes prepared for the Ryzen 5000 series, and I noticed there is no option for a update with a flash drive. Considering I have no other CPU I am pretty blocked. Should I return my motherboard ? What are my options ? Thanks a lot any help is appreciated :)
motherboard: ASUS PRIME X570-PRO
cpu: can't check, some rysen 7
Right after seemingly successful upgrading from bios version 1407 to 4602, my computer is bricked (i.e. no screen output on both my graphics-card and directly on the motherboard, no bleeps, etc). The cpu q-led burns. I've tried resetting the bios both via battery and clrtc header. I've also tried recovery via crashfree (were ypu put the file on a usb disk and hope for the best it seems), but no system reaction.
Ive run this system for 2 years, one thing I do know, the cpu is compatible and in good order (atleast right before the upgrade). I'm also 99% confident I provided the correct firmware to the bios (which should complain if I didn't).
Any tips on what to do?
