I recently got a ryzen 9 5000 series. What I currently have installed is a ryzen 5 2600 the last time bios were updated (not by me) was 2020 on version 1401. Should I just download the most recent Bios or is there more to it. Any advice is appreciated I just don’t want to mess anything up. I’ve never done this before and know very little about PC’s unfortunately. Do I need a usb drive? What is fat32?do I need to buy a specific usb?

Any bios update is useful, the main reason people do a bios update is for compatibility with newer cpu's. Basically if a cpu is launched on the market after the motherboard it may not be cmpatible with it and th motherboard may need a bios update. Another case is for stability and whatever. Basically a bios update is always good. To install it you only need a USB preferably under 32GB or 32GB in order to be able to format is as FAT32. You can also have a larger USB but that will require a bit of a workaround wich is also easy and there are plenty of tutorials online. Once you've got you'r USB you will need to go to the asus website an download the latest bios for you'r motherbiard and follow the steps. After that's done you will have to use you'r USB BIOS FLASHBACK feature on the motherboard once you inserted the usb with the update in the BIOS UPDATE slot, it should be clear which one it is. There should be a button to initialize the process that you should hold for 3 seconds an then there should be a green LED that will start blinking. Let it do it's magic and when the LED turn off it should be done,you can remove the USB. THE PC MUST BE OFF WHEN INITIALIZING THE BIOS FLASHBACK WITH ONLY THE POWER SOURCE ON. Don't turn it on only after the update is done. In order to format the usb to FAT 32 you can richt click on it in the file explorer, then Format, and you should see the Fat 32 format if the usb is under 32gb.
