BIOS update no cpu or flashback
You can't. You would have to take it to a PC shop and have them do it for you. Get a board with BIOS flash back, just in case it doesn't come ready "out of the box". More on reddit.com

People also ask

What happens if BIOS does not support the CPU?

Then that means the user will have to update the BIOS to a firmware that does support that particular CPU. You can take 12th Gen Intel Motherboards, for example. It supports all of the 12th Gen and 13th Gen CPUs. But you will need a BIOS update to use any 13th Gen CPU on 12th Gen motherboards.

October 30, 2022 -

I'm gonna flash BIOS using the button on my MSI motherboard. It's my first time building a PC and I get a little bit nervous, so I just want you guys to help me check if the process is correct.

  1. download the bios file, rename it and put it into a FAT32 flash drive

  2. put on power cables onto the motherboard (I think there are 2 cables, one big and one small?)

  3. turn on the power

  4. plug the flash drive into the correct USB port

  5. push the button and wait

  6. until it indicates the completion, I can unplug the drive and turn off the power

Thank you!

The power supply must be switched on to provide power, but the motherboard doesn't need to be booted up in the usual way. Next, insert the USB drive into the dedicated USB port for BIOS Flashback or Q-Flash PlusThat port is critical: if you use a different one, the standalone flashing system won't find the file.

r/buildapc on Reddit: Easiest way to update BIOS without CPU or flashback
January 14, 2024 -

Im facing a bit of a dilemma right now, the mobo I’ve bought most likely doesn’t support my CPU out of the box and doesn’t have a BIOS flash feature, I also don’t have a compatible CPU. As far as I can tell, my options are:

  1. Return my CPU and get a 13th gen CPU instead - would cost about £50 but I'm not sure I’ll be able to get a refund as I bought it before Christmas.

  2. Return my mobo and get one that supports 14th gen CPUs or has a flashback feature - would cost me about £60 more to buy a MSI PRO Z790-P which has M-Flash.

  3. Buy an older CPU and update the BIOS with this CPU – I can get a Celeron G6900 for about £66 which I could probably resell for about £30, but this would mean having to install a CPU fan more than once which seems like a hassle and more chance of me effing this up.

  4. Take it to a PC shop and get them to update the BIOS – not sure where around me that could do this and how much it would cost, but potentially the easiest solution.

This is my first PC build so I’m looking for the easiest solution, which feels like buying the Z790 mobo. What option would you say is the easiest/least risky? Is there another option I’ve missed? Is it worth trying my CPU first to see if it would post with the current BIOS or is there 0% chance of working?
