I've got a wd15 docking station and a macbook pro 2019 16inch(also have linux and windows but without compatiable usb c connections)
When I connect the docking station nothing happend
I understood from the internet that updating the firmware of the docking station will fix my problem
but I don't have any windows device to perform the update
Is there any way I can do it using my mac?

The WD15 download page: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-dock-wd15/drivers offers 4 drivers and 1 firmware update for the Windows 10 OS. The firmware update offered is 1.0.9 when Windows 10 is selected. It offers 1.0.6 when Window 7 or 8 is selected. There are no updates available for macOS clients. To update the WD15, you'll need access to Windows 10 (preferably) on a PC with a USB-C port. In case you are not aware, you can install Windows 10 on the MBP 2019 because it's an Intel powered computer. You use the Bootcamp application on macOS to create a Windows installation on your primary hard drive. You would download the Windows 10 ISO file from Microsoft (at no cost) and follow the Bootcamp app's instructions. If you do so, you can then use the Mac to boot up Windows 10 and from there, you can connect the dock and updates its firmware. You don't need a Windows 10 license to do this because you're essentially creating a throwaway Windows installation for only one purpose: to update the firmware on the dock. Once you've done that, you can use Bootcamp to remove the Windows installation and get back the disk space that the Windows installation occupies. Windows will operate fine for about 30 days and then it will nag you to buy a license. But you won't be keeping it that long. HTH.

FYI latest firmware supposedly solves the issue where you have to disconnect/reconnect the dock to make it work with an M1.
You do need a windows machine to install the firmware update on the dock.
