June 22, 2024 - You should also sign into your Apple ID and remove the ability to pay with your cards across your Apple devices, just to be safe. You should have a passcode set on your Apple Watch, to unlock when without the iPhone, so this too should add an extra layer of security. There is also an option to set your Apple Watch to erase all data should more than 10 consecutive failed unlock attempts be tried.

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Primarily use Apple Pay on my Watch
March 7, 2025 -

When I am shopping in stores, I almost always use my Watch to pay at checkout. It’s become a natural reflex for me for payments now. Anyone else do this too? I thought I’d bring up the discussion because I feel like I rarely see others using their Watches to pay. I’ll even get comments occasionally from cashiers that will say something like - “I didn’t know you could use the Watch!”

If you primarily use your iPhone to pay in stores, let me know why. I’m genuinely curious to hear the benefits over the Watch!

r/AppleWatch on Reddit: Using Apple Pay
August 25, 2025 -

Often when I pay via my Apple Watch, the person behind the counter will be delighted to see it, telling how cool that is. About half the time, I point and say, “The Apple Watch you’re wearing will do this too!”

I am surprised at how many people don’t set up and use Apple Pay on the Watch. It’s very simple and much easier than digging out one’s iPhone or wallet.
