I love this phone but one of the few things that's been driving me crazy about it is how tap to pay works through Google Wallet. I open the app with the phone unlocked, tap my phone to the reader, and then it prompts me for my fingerprint. Why is it prompting me for that when the phone is already unlocked? On some terminals this causes the POS system to glitch out and the cashier has to reinitiate the payment. If I'm forced to enter my security credentials even when the phone is unlocked, why not prompt me BEFORE I attempt to make the payment, rather than having me initiate the payment just to have it fail and then prompt me? Previous phones that I've had don't work this way.
I did some Googling and apparently on most phones under the NFC settings, there's a security option to prevent this from happening, but that doesn't seem to be present on this phone. Is anyone familiar with a workaround?
So I have the Electrify America app. It has built in Tap to Pay. You walk up to an EV charger, tap the phone (with app open) to the charger and away you go. If you have free charging this is the easiest way to get a fill-up.
BUT if you also have Google Wallet on your phone, Wallet will leap up and pay the bill with hard earned cash. Ugggh. Umm.. thanks Google but it would have been free if you hadn't done that.
I'd like to keep Google Pay but I can't have it doing things like this all on it's own.
Any suggestions?
