The range of this function is "all values of `y` such that `y>0`", otherwise written as `(0,oo),` or `{y in RR\ |\ y>0 }.` We don't include `0` because the curve never quite touches the `x`-axis. See more exponential functions. ... Graph of `y=2^x`, an exponential function. Now let's consider the function `f(t) = 2t^3-6t^2+5t+1.` The domain of this function is "all possible `t`-values". We could write this as `(-oo,oo)`.

Domain and Range - Free Math Help
When asked to find the domain of a function, start with the easy stuff: first look for any values that cause you to divide by zero. Remember also that we cannot take the square root of a negative number, so keep an eye out for situations where the radicand (the "stuff" inside the square root sign) could result in a negative value. In that case, it would not be a valid input so the domain would not include such values. Range: The range is the set of all possible output values (commonly the variable y, or sometimes expressed as \(f(x)\)), which result from using a particular function.

September 5, 2020 -
I've watched several videos, but they seemed to be doing different ways to write it. For example some domain would be; D [ 0, โ] and some will be; Domain: { xER | x โ 0} Can anyone explain what's the difference between the two?

The [a, b] is closed interval notation. It tells us the endpoint a and b are closed. The { } is called set notation. You donโt really need to worry about it for now, but we can write [a,b] as the set. { x is real number | a <= x <= b} When infinity is in the domain, we canโt use closed interval. It has to be opened. And open interval is written as (a,b). We can have one endpoint be opened and the other be closed. It would be [a, b) or (b, a]. In your post it should be [0, infinity) The second notation tells us that the domain is all real numbers, excluding 0. Generally you should be allowed to just write that not using set notation.

These are different ways of writing sets. In the first, you say the D = [0,infinity] is the set of points between 0 and infinity (inclusive). The second, is saying that the domain D is the set of points x which are real numbers such that x does not equal zero. To break it down, the round E (in Latex it is \in) symbol means "in", R is the set of real numbers, the vertical line means such that. Both methods of defining the domain are equally valid, but the second one gives you a lot more control to write precise statements. For example, you could write D = {x \in R | sin(x) = 0.5}. This is the set of x in the real numbers that satisfy the equation sin(x) = 0.5. Hope this helps.
