This laptop seems like a ghost - no identified lineup name (it's not an Omen or an Envy), model number is 17-cn3053cl. I'm feeling nervous about opening the box it came in since HP doesn't have a great reputation.
My use case is my work laptop, large Excel spreadsheets, statistical programming in R, a million Chrome tabs open at once, etc. It will almost always be plugged in.
Any thoughts or experiences?

Will updating the RAM fix glitching issues I am running into while trying to produce music? It seems like every few minutes there is a 10 second glitch out phase where everything slows down to half speed, even the actual music, and I cant do anything then it resumes as normal.. I dont know much about computers, but FL studio will be all I have open on Task manager, so the computer(gaming one at that) should be able to handle that right??

We need a laptop for home use so that we don’t have to do everything on our phones. We would just be using this laptop for email, online shopping and our duties for managing our kid’s sports team. No gaming or anything like that.

My daughter has one similar for school. She loves the number pad on it, her last one did not have that. The only thing we have done is buy her external wireless mouse and keyboard, and for christmas she wants an external display. No complaints about it at all. The only difference is we went with the 8gb RAM one. 4 is barely enough to run windows smoothly. but if you don't mind waiting the extra couple of seconds, I know it is a nice machine for what you are planning on using it.
