“Never own a printer again” with HP's all in plan
So it is leasing a printer for home use, and they provide customer service and can send you a replacement if you are having problems. Not bad so far. But then if you look at the price, it adds up. If you instead buy a typical inkjet printer and ink cartridges, it will probably cost less after about 2 years of use. And if you don't need color, there are some basic black and white laser printers that are $100-200 with inexpensive toner. More on reddit.com

September 19, 2023Purchase advice for new all in one printer after 9 great years with my HP 8710
Lmao literally today I bit the bullet and upgraded from an HP 8620 to a Canon Mf656cdw due to constantly having issues with ink printing. I just about threw hands with my 8620 for rejecting a monochrome print due to magenta being depleted. $350 at the time of writing, laser color printer, looks like tons of 3rd party toners available on Amazon for 1/2 or less than the "genuine" toners. It has all of the duplex functionally and wireless apple printing which is awesome. I honestly can't give any more of a review because I bought it today and it's still sitting in the box waiting for 3rd party toner to arrive from Amazon, but I'll happily edit my comment in a week or two to give an update on how it's going! I print infrequently, never photos (I use a professional service for my photography prints, mpix or Saal digital), but when I print something, it's usually important documents and I need them quickly. I was getting frustrated with the 8620 first needing to do a cleaning cycle, then giving me issues before letting me print. Every other print, I'd have to walk downstairs into the office to calm it down and press some on screen buttons to make it happy with my 3rd party units. The magenta issue to print a monochrome document was what sent me over the edge and convinced me to try laser. More on reddit.com

No. If you can survive without color printing (which is expensive), just get a cheap Brother laser printer. I recommend that you should consider an Epson EcoTank/Canon MegaTank/Brother INKvestment printer only if you know for sure you'll be printing more than once every week, in color, for atleast the next year or two. Issues can occur if they're left sitting unused for an extended period of time. More on reddit.com
