Your other option would be to use the HP cloud recovery tool to install W10 on your new SSD and then upgrade back to W11. Here is an info link for how to use the cloud recovery tool. HP computer not letting me into BIOS on W11
The BIOS Boot menu key for HP is ESC or F10, should be printed right on the BIOS splash screen unless it has Fast Boot enabled, which might also bypass the chance to trigger the menu. In that case you need to enter BIOS Setup via the Windows Recovery menu here: https://www.onmsft.com/how-to/enter-into-bios-i... BUT....Secure Boot is necessary for Windows 11 ... Can’t boot into BIOS from HP laptop, any help?
Let the laptop boot into Windows. When you've reached the login screen, hold down the Shift key while clicking Restart. You can release the shift key when Windows says "please wait". You will eventually be shown a screen with some options. Click "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "UEFI Firmware Settings" > "Restart". Windows will then restart directly into your BIOS. If all you want to do is to boot from your USB key, then you can just click on "Use a device" on the first screen. More on reddit.com

r/techsupport on Reddit: How can I access the BIOS on this new HP laptop I just bought.
January 24, 2024 -

I just bought a laptop through Amazon, which came with Windows 11 installed.

I want to get rid of that. I have an Ubuntu image burned onto a USB stick, but it won't boot from that by default.

When I reboot the machine, it shows no instructions for accessing the BIOS, just the stupid hp logo. I tried tapping both del and f12 repeatedly, to no avail. A quick google search suggested using f2 or f12 upon seeing the logo screen. I did try both, but to no avail.

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

June 10, 2024 - There is no need to change the boot order in the BIOS and is doubtful that doing so would make a difference because the Windows boot manager determines what device to boot from. If you need to use your Macrium reflect rescue disk (I just did this the other day because I messed up my PC), you have to have the disk in the USB DVD drive, turn on or restart the PC. Immediately tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

r/Windows10 on Reddit: Can’t boot into BIOS from HP laptop, any help?
April 8, 2018 -

Basically I’m locked out of my laptop (or rather a laptop given to me by a family member who can’t remember their password)

So I’ve been trying to boot into the BIOS, but it hasn’t been working. I can’t get into the BIOS any other way because I can’t log in.

I signed into the WiFi and tried to type the wrong password in multiple times to see if it would prompt me with a password reset, but it just says I’m offline... and I am not because I see the signal says I’m connected.

On a laptop with Windows 10, how do I boot into the BIOS? If it’s with one of the F keys, do I need to hold down ‘fn’ along with the proper F key?

I’ve tried holding down f2, f6, f8, and f10 but it just boots normally. What’s going on??
