If you force reboot the machine and it does not power up properly BIOS update could of failed or soft locked it, sometimes even hard lock unfortunately...but slight good news is that it's an HP. If the BIOS update failed or if things in lack of terms is pretty fucked...you can try the hail Mary for HP's in this situation. With the computer completely off, power on but hold the windows key and B for awhile. This will launch the HP BIOS recovery IF it's supported for the laptop. Is my HP laptop Bricked? Black screen after BIOS update
I had a similar problem, I can offer a solution that worked for the HP 250 G6 laptop model. Not sure if this is universal, but someone might want to check it out. https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/11ka000/comment/kvh0o5j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button UPD: Reddit decided to delete my post in that thread due to low karma, so I'm posting the solution here on pastebin: https://pastebin.com/91G7PkJe More on reddit.com

HP Bios update blank screen
I'd just leave it for now frankly. Wait a few hours if you have to. You don't want to brick your system. When and if (hopefully) your system recovers, I'd google your system and any possible steps for disabling auto BIOS updates. More on reddit.com

August 24, 2025 - @Bronkowitz, Got it — thanks for clarifying that pressing Windows + B only gets you to “HP BIOS Update initializing” before the black screen, and recovery USB attempts don’t finish.

October 25, 2024 - A loose connection can sometimes cause a black screen. Connect your laptop to an external monitor using HDMI or VGA. This can help determine if the issue is with the internal display or the laptop itself. If you have a USB drive prepared with the BIOS update files, you can attempt to recover the BIOS:

r/Hewlett_Packard on Reddit: Is my HP laptop Bricked? Black screen after BIOS update
October 26, 2023 -

Hey all, I did something which is not at all recommended but didn't knew this at the time of doing. I update the bios to F.73 Rev.A and now my PC seems to be Bricked. It is starting but I am getting a blank display. At the time, BIOS was updating, I saw a failure message and after that the PC didn't turn on. I tried creating a bootable stick using the same bios from HP site but win+b key proved out to be a big scam. Need your help guys. What should I do, it's my friend's laptop? Any help will be appreciated. Model no: BS-579TX Windows ver: 10
