June 12, 2025Opinion on HP Laptop. Was wondering what the catch is.
The catch is hardware. Tech is made of two parts - Specs and Hardware. i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD are the "specs". This can be same on a $500 laptop and $5000 laptop. What differentiates the price points is "hardware", which is build quality, display, speakers, mic, webcam, keyboard, touchpad, ports, battery life, etc etc. The laptop you linked is at the bottom chain of "price point", which means it has bad hardware. It is also overpriced. HP sells that laptop for $400 USD on their own website and often discounted for $300. More on reddit.com

Looking to purchase a budget Laptop for work and wanted to get opinions on which would be better performance wise. I am wondering if I would be better off going with the I7 processor with 16gb ram or go with the ryzen 5 processor with 8gb and then upgrade it 16gb? From what I understand from the research I've done, the ryzen 5 seems to outperform the I7 on some benchmark tests. I'm not to savy when it comes to laptop specs though so just wanted to get some help. Thanks in advanced for any info
