I bought 14 2024. I like it a lot. I use it in classes to program or to take notes in OneNote. I removed some of the bloatware applications which came preinstalled (copilot, onedrive, etc.) I also had the issue of OneNote (presumably) causing my laptop's graphics card to crash and restore (it looked like screen going black and returning split second back) which I (hopefully) restored with this guide . I applied it today morning but I experienced no more of said issue so if you notice that give it a try. I manually updated the graphics driver because HP's utility wouldn't give me the latest Arc drivers, while the intel's utility insisted there was a newer version available. Where I bought it at (local retailer) it didn't come with dongles so I ordered one from Ugreen. Otherwise that's mostly it. Keep in mind that the screen will become a fingerprint magnet when taking notes so having a microfiber cloth could be a good buy too. I have had the same issue with a HP x360 G3 1040 EliteBook. I suspect that Windows 11 is calibrating/reconfiguring the touchscreen firmware settings(/profiles?). And I believe HP should be calling Microsoft to account over this. And here's why... If you web search for the symptoms, you eventually converge on the same answer. That is to perform the component test on the touchscreen via the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool. Eg: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touchscreen-Stopped-working/td-p/7806905 This tool is run from the "bios", and my experience is that finger touch does not work at all. And if you attempt to perform the test with the HP Pen/Stylus, you see a reaction with the position of the pointer, maybe two tiles are exercised, but generally the pointer just reacts randomly as the pen comes into the threshold of proximity to the screen. Further, I note that in Windows 11, the HID-compliant touch screen driver is listed as Location: on HP Pen device. I am unsure of the structure/hierarchy of the driver runtimes, but to me that suggests Windows 11 has configured the touch screen to be tied to the HP Pen. So, because the touchscreen is working well with a pen under Windows 11 implies to me there is no hardware issue it. However, if Windows 11 has reconfigured the touchscreen for it's purposes, it has not considered the effect it has had on a) the HP diagnostic tool, which should be the authority on the operational status of the hardware component b) other operating systems that could run on the PC. As far as I can tell that laptop pen uses a pen tech AES (which is a Wacom Tech) Most Wacom pens use a tech called EMR (Pioneered by Wacom). but AES and EMR are different and incompatible pen technologies.
