Why would anyone buy an HP Printer?
I fucking HATE my new printer!
HP Printers are worth to buy??
Printer deals at Staples
In the 1990's I purchased one of the earliest inkjet printers "Thinkjet" and many more inkjet and laser jet printers after my first. In the early teens I was sick of HPs crappy build quality, crazy high ink prices, and customer hostile business practices and left them. In 2012 I moved to an Epson printer and have never looked back.
I was on the Wirecutter website today and was SHOCKED that all their "recommended" printers were HP. Did HP "buy" their way to the top? Surely there is no way anyone would recommend an HP printer unless they were bribed to. From the many posts on this page and others I almost never hear anything good about HP printers. Any HP fans out there?
I got an HP6001 printer delivered, I ordered it on December 10th and it came on the 13th. It took me a bit of time to getting around to setting it up, around the 11th of this month. I hate this printer. I got it from Best Buy.

The scanbed is too small and the lid is too light, so when it closes it moves the item being scanned a bit, and since the scanning area is smaller than my old printer (what I am used to) the scanned area is now crooked.
-
There are streaks and lines in the prinouts no matter how much I clean and align the heads, so it's poor quality.

There are WAY TOO MANY different choices for making a simple printout, and since I am not sure of what I am doing (I am used to an OfficeJetPro 4630) I end up with weird printouts.

The most a copy resolution is, is 300dpi.
When I realized (very quickly) that I didn't like this printer, I knew I was screwed because it's a tank printer and you can't just "uninstall the cartridges". There is ink in it that can't be removed. I can't return it. I couldn't return it, and after the month it's been since I got it, it's been past it's return date.
I only got a tank printer because it doesn't require a subscription to use, my old printer needed a subscription. Now I am stuck having paid $250 for a lackluster printer, and I need a new printer/scanner to replace it. FML!
I don't know what to do. I would like to have this printer work nicely, but nothing I can do will make the new printouts equal or better than the ones from my old printer. Which, BTW won't work now. It refuses to even power on in a pouty fit having seen that I got a new printer.
It's pissing me off that even if I DO get it turned on the only thing I could do is re-enroll it in the HP Instant Ink program which is why I got the new printer in the first place. You cannot use a printer that was at one time enrolled in the program - outside of the program, you can't put in new ink cartridges from somewhere else, or purchase them from HP. Yes, I know HP is a shitty brand, but my previous printer/scanner was great!
Anyone have any suggestions? I checked the credit card I used, and there are no "purchase return" guarentees.
EDIT: UPDATE:
Returned the printer to Best Buy - was able to do it with the purchase of their membership plan, so I got back $179 in a gift card - which is fine.
Now, having looked at my printing needs, I am choosing between a Brother or a Cannon color laser printer. I was going to avoid them because of the costs of the toner, but in the end, I want to just not worry about not printing pages regularly to keep the ink from drying out.
If in the future I want to print out pictures, I will get a tiny little photo printer for that. I never printed out photos in the past, so I dont' expect to be doing to much of that now.
I noticed that the Brother and the Cannon color laser printers are pretty much the same but they don't really share the same strengths and weaknesses which makes it a bit tougher.
At least I am now able to look again, but I have nothing to be able to print with until I get SOMETHING.
Hi, I'm currently a senior high school student, and I'm planning to buy a printer for my studies. HP Smart Ink Tank 520 are worth to buy or not? Please send help. It's my first time buying a printer, so I don't know what kind of printers are of good quality. If it's not worth it, can you suggest a brand that is student-friendly? Since the money that I will use to buy the printer is from my first job. Thank youu
