I have had HP laptops before and have never had a problem with them. This one wouldn't even turn on. I plugged it in and let it charge overnight and it still wouldn't turn on. I contacted HP support and they weren't much help either.

r/computers on Reddit: I bought a HP Stream 14-cb Series Laptop With 4GB Of RAM running Windows 11. DO NOT BUY!
January 6, 2024 -

When I this laptop for school work in 2022. This thing ran like a piece of shit! The Specs are:

4 GB RAM DDR4

Memory Speed: 2400 KHz

Hard Drive: 64GB emmc flash

Graphics Coprocessor: ‎Intel UHD Graphics 600

Price: $206.90

When I first booted up the computer running Windows 11 in S Mode, I was going to turn off S mode, but settings on a trash Windows 11 laptop took 2 MINUTES TO OPEN SETTINGS! After that I turned off S mode to download Google Chrome. BUT MICROSOFT EDGE TOOK TO LONG! Then I went to my Mom's PC to download Windows 10 on this flash drive that I had. (I downloaded Windows 8.1 incase Windows 10 was slow too.) I download Windows 10 and it ran way faster. But Still. Slow. Then I started working more for a part time job around me in Pittsburgh. I founded one and started working more. And then I had enough money to buy a new laptop from Acer called Acer Nitro 5. And then I just kept the laptop in my basement. Lesson Learned. Don't buy cheap laptops.

People here in this thread saying its shitty cause its an HP have no idea what they are talking about. Its shitty cause it has emmc memory. Emmc memory is even slower than a modern 5400 rpm hdd. Emmc memory is the equivalent of booting from a soldered in SD card, which is another way of saying that is the slowest, cheapest, low capacity, low write endurance memory laptop / tablet manufacturers can put in a device. Any system that advertise having emmc memory as its primary storage is an automatic don't buy unless it has an additional SATA port or M.2 slot for you to add in a real SSD to install your operating system on. Also minimum amount of RAM you should get is at least 8 GB for less demanding productivity work like basic school work. If you are doing video editing or 3d modelling, etc... then you would want at least 16 GB . This is true for regardless of the brand. Doesn't matter whether its Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Thinkpad, Chromebook, etc. The only thing emmc memory is good for is for storing small word documents or pictures or like music / video that don't require a lot of bandwidth and isn't latency sensitive. It not where you would ever want to install OS / program files. So avoid any Dell, Chromebook, with only emmc memory cause you will experience the same exact issues. Even 10 year dual core processor laptops perform perfectly fine today as long as you upgrade their storage to a real SATA / NVME SSD and 8 GB of RAM instead of emmc memory / HDD they typically come with. You can buy low end base model laptops that come with a HDD and only 4 GB of RAM, then buy a cheap aftermarket 128 GB SSD for $12-$20 and 8 GB RAM kit for like $20 to upgrade it yourself. Cause if you buy it preconfigured straight from the factory they are going to rip you off and charge you $200 extra for what is essentially a $40 upgrade.

HP once again shows a Windows laptop for email and online apps can be attractive and inexpensive. A low price on a laptop can make up for a lot of shortcomings. That is, as long as those shortcomings don't interfere with you getting stuff done. The 14-inch HP Stream, for example, is only $220 in the US and £200 in the UK. As long as your needs don't leap too far beyond watching YouTube clips, sending email and using web apps, you're golden. (HP doesn't offer the Stream in a 14-inch size in Australia, but there is the HP 14-am034tu for AU$500, which is similarly configured, but with a 500GB hard

November 1, 2014 - Hi, I've just picked one of these up and as there isn't much information online review wise I thought I'd share some observations.
