Could you give me examples of open source JS projects on github, that aren't as difficult to contribute to as something like facebook/react?

My goal is to get experience diving into more complex codebases in order to prepare for the "real world".
Others have raised questions like: https://www.reddit.com/r/reactjs/comments/gikyb3/should_i_be_able_to_understand_the_react_codebase/
But then, if something like facebook/react is probably too complex, what is an example of a less complex codebase, which is still challenging for someone who is relatively familiar with JS?
In general, by challenging I mean:
-
It has a larger codebase developed by many people.
-
Most importantly, it looks like the kind of work one would do on the job (as opposed to looking like a personal project).
Would be better, if the project was relatively active.
