Find a product or service you are passionate about, and build a mock campaign for it with everything you learn. Show that to a potential employer and you will impress them enough to land you a job. April 7, 2026What are your thoughts on Hubspot's marketing certifications they offer?
In my opinion, it won't help you find a job, mainly because of how easy it is to get certified.
For example: I have a year and a half of college level marketing education (Canadian), and I was able to pass the 60 question inbound test with ease, without watching any of their course content videos.
But on the other hand, I recommend it to anyone who is considering a career in marketing, because it does an amazing job explaining all the big picture digital marketing concepts.

Considering that you say you would prefer learning SQL and the technical side, you should stick to that. These areas often involve data analysis and campaign optimization, which could suit you well. Since you mentioned that the HubSpot Academy course has a lot of fluff, I recommend trying some practical courses like Udemy, Google Analytics Academy, and there are also good courses on Coursera. Additionally, join online communities where you can ask questions and learn from others; besides Reddit, which I see you use, try Quora, where you can also ask questions. On Discord servers, you can also find groups that interest you. And make sure to gain as much practical experience as possible through projects or internships whenever you get the chance. Yes, hubspot has nice collection of courses not only in marketing but other fields too such as sales, web design, inbound service.. and you can also select the level( beginner, intermediate, advanced). However not all courses has a certification. Digital marketing contains various elements such as social media, content marketing, SEO...
