No "CPU Package" temp | HWiNFO® Forum
September 13, 2022 - You may see up to 80~85C peak temp when gaming but during a CB R23 multicore test it may stay even under 70C. If you noticed what I said on post #5, the ASUS "CPU package" temp is equal to HWiNFO's "CPU (Tctl/Tdie)" temp which is in fact like a hot spot temp in the entire CPU package.

January 2, 2024 - I re-added it but I may not have noticed if it was stuck then. ... Actually I am seeing that CPU Package under the Enhanced section is working as normal. I am thinking I grabbed the DTS one when it lost it before. I will move back to this one, though it still seems like DTS should be reading properly. ... Wow I'm sorry, I just figured it out. I had the main CPU section disabled and it seems DTS averages from there.

How to Check CPU Temperature and Why Is It Important? | Kooling Monster
January 3, 2026 - You can check the CPU temperature in the BIOS settings (or UEFI after Windows 10), but this method doesn’t provide much value as we don’t have access to the BIOS when we play video games. So 3rd party monitoring software is more useful. There are many monitoring programs, such as HWiNFO, Core Temp, NZXT's CAM, and many others.

Individual Core Temps | HWiNFO® Forum
July 20, 2020 - So really there is no need for reporting temp of each individual core. Tctl/Tdie gives you the absolute highest temp on the CPU. The way Intel does it, cannot do that. The readings of each individual core are static, on a specific location of each core and do not represent the highest temp on them.

What cpu temp do I need to monitor in hwinfo64? | Overclockers UK Forums
September 9, 2015 - In your screenshot above, if you take the Core #0 readout and Core #0 distance to TJMax readout from the DTS section, you can see that 26c and 74c equal 100c (the rest of the readouts will total 100c too). If you have a Core reading being 50 or 51 degrees under full load / stress / gaming, you're half way from being anywhere near throttling / shut down. So perfectly fine. I'm on Linux myself, but not doing much, my CPU is in the high 40s / low 50s (ultrabook).

Question - Which temp reading from HWInfo is the correct one? | Tom's Hardware Forum
November 3, 2019 - The 3700x won't start thermal throttling until it reaches 85°C consistently, so with a temp as read in Ryzen Master of @ 74° to 75°, it doesn't make a difference at all if HWInfo reads high core at 74° and cpu at 77°. You are in mid 70's, not mid 80's. Considering those are gaming temps, not stress/torture temps, your fixation is in the wrong area.

October 8, 2022 - I'd uninstall it immediately, it's well known that CAM uses a high amount of system resources and it's "phone home" practices used to mine personal data are well documented. HWmonitor, just plain sucks. If you want accurate CPU core temp sensor readings I'd suggest trying either HWinfo (Choose Sensors only, disable "Summary") or Core Temp.
