It's very realistic, I can hardly tell its AI unless I'm told (or if its clearly fake af).
As an actress I worried ill never get roles due to this
I also hate the idea of ALL media being AI, or enjoying a video and not knowing it's AI until much later, everything online will be a lie, history will be rewritten, there will be no more creative media online, it'll all be ai, I'll watch a movie, love it, then find its ai. I'm scared
Also the deepfake aspect of it all, like possibly going to jail for an AI video/CCTV footage of something you didn't do (or the total oppsoite: people getting off Scott free because AI makes it difficult to tell if they actually did it)
And I HATE the people praising it, this is not good! Artists, animators, actors, youtubers. Anyone creative is going to be squashed, but I've seen only praise for sora 2.
I don't know if it's been fully talked about on here (it has now)
Edit 2: holy shit a girl cannot have dreams: I WAS worried I wouldn't get roles (I've had a few background ones, nothing major yet), also I highlighted MULTIPLE issues, can we stop getting caught up on the very first line of this post?
I already knew this would happen, as I predicted here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/comments/1nvoq9u/enjoy_sora_2_while_it_lasts_we_all_know_openais/
However, I’m still stunned by how little time it took. I thought they would let us use the good version for at least 4-8 weeks before subtly reducing its quality over time (like they did with their image generator), but it has already dipped to VEO 3 level or lower, and it hasn’t even been two weeks!
I’m using the SORA 2 Pro model, which is supposed to be the good one, yet it has already reached a point where all the original selling points (e.g. strong understanding of the world, realistic physics, and logical sequencing of events) are gone. Most generations are now, at best, no better than VEO 3, and sometimes even worse. This is effectively not the same product we had at launch.
What shocks me is not that they reduced its quality, but how quickly and blatantly they did it. OpenAI clearly doesn’t care anymore. They don’t mind that it’s obvious the model performs poorly now. They built early hype, presumably to satisfy investors, and now that they’ve achieved that, they’re throwing it all under the bus. Again.
Videos
Sora 2 is boring now, I get it they have to follow the copyright laws, and I understand that, but let's be honest all their models has been trained on everything you can think of, and they did not ask for permission so why restrict your customers to videos that is clearly FAIR USE. Makes no sense and this will not turn people away from TikTok with all these restrictions.
Why is it so horrendous now??? All videos I've seen before seemed so groundbreaking for Ai, and now it feels like it just regressed a few years back. The videos it generates now are absolutely horrible, it baffles me. I've seen better generations with random image to video generators nobodies heard of, how are people generating such good videos still???? Is it just backlog from when it was good?
The Sora 2 app now has an average rating of 2.9.
What’s the reason?
bruh ts is so frigging unfair! i saw all these people making these really cool and funny clips and now i finally am able to use Sora 2 but everything i do is restricted! I HATE THIS
how can u ruin such a amazing app?!
even though im an artist ive had pretty tolerant views on generative ai (with some exceptions) but im really uncertain on this.
on the one hand it is technological advancement, and its close minded to immediately reject any new development just because its unlike anything we've had before, but on the other hand, thank GOD i never planned to pursue art as a job. give it a few years and it'll be a rarity for an animation to be non-ai, which means it'll be a rarity for someone to earn a living by being an animator.
Saw this pop up on Facebook. Zoomed in, zero errors anywhere. Just thought it was weird how the bodycam text was so so basic and simple, then realised there driver is on the right in Texas supposedly.
Googled it, and behold! No actual news articles and just billions of reposts across the 1-2 day span across Facebook and Instagram. The fact this has 700,000 likes is frustrating. Some people realised in the comments, but the wide majority just blinded accepted it as a real event that happened. I really want to know why people purposely do this even though there’s hundreds of thousands of potential stories they can use that did happen, but decide to instead mislead everyone and make people hate AI more than they do.
https://openai.com/index/sora-2/
Hank Green (whose videos I generally like -- have been a subscriber for years) just uploaded a video titled “Give me a single reason why Sora2 should exist” where he basically spends 3 minutes venting about how AI is harmful and shouldn’t exist at all
Naturally, the video is blowing up... 70K views in 3 hours, 12K likes, and the comment section is full of people agreeing with him. The anti-AI crowd is treating it like it's their Holy Grail lol. And I'm pretty sure the outrage is based entirely on an outdated fact since Sora 2 already put up all kinds of restrictions and you can no longer make the kinds of videos he's mad about
What do you think? Personally I'm kinda getting tired of these "AI bad" takes from influencers that clearly fail to see the bigger picture
I'm seeing massive hype for SORA 2 currently.
You guys do realize this happens literally EVERY time whenever OpenAI releases a flashy new toy? And that a few weeks/months afterward they dumb it down to a point of it being a shadow of the release version? You do realize that they've done this literally every single time? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Have fun with it while it lasts. Once the wow factor is over, they will censor the hell out of it, remove the ability to use copyrighted characters, dumb it down in general to save compute costs, and then it will be just another boring AI video model.
EDIT: LOL! Already people are complaining this has happened and it didn't even take a week. I was expecting it to last at least 2-6 weeks lmao.
I don’t know if it just me, but when Sora 2 first came out I was mind blown and making like 100 videos in one day. But now with all the strict moderation that 95% of the time restricts things that didn’t need to be. I find it hard to even open the app, and when I do I only make like 1 video and then scroll for 5 minutes then dip for another week. I’m just waiting for google to release something like Veo 4.
Without a system to distinguish between pregen and postgen blocks, and/or a system to separate out content violations that are out of a user’s control (like sora adding copyrighted characters to videos on its own), this is a complete creativity killer.
Seems like they need to decide whether they want this tp be a pro enterprise tool for corporate video generation, or a public-facing social network. Maybe they just did.
So we can all agree that everyone is quitting Sora 2 now that we can't make everything due to copyright issues?
It literally cannot do anything right, I uploaded some photos of my cats as a joke and told it to make them dance and it literally cannot lmao, it’s so bad. Everything, even original stuff looks terrible and every other text to video generator blows it out of the water. Even free / cheaper text to video or image to video generators absolutely smoke sora in terms of accuracy. The fact with plus you barely get any videos is so goofy, i’m paying a decent amount of money for something that’s cheaper or free elsewhere. The only way this would be justified is if Sora was incredible.
Seems like everything now is violating the content policy.
There’s a lot of that going on on X especially. Some are racist videos that are claimed to be made by Sora 2 but they don’t have the logo.
The uncanny valley is slowly collapsing in front of us.
As far as I understand OpenAI wants to make a tiktok alternative for a wide audience.
TikTok reportedly sees 1+ billion videos uploaded per day. If each 10-second Al video costs roughly 0.1$-1$ in compute + infra, that will cost hundreds of millions a day just to support uploads. How are they gonna finance it?
