If you’re privacy concerned, you should be really careful with free apps. How does the company makes money? If a product is free you’re the product. For me the best free email app, that supports iCloud is mail.app. I use it with my custom domain for work and 2 private mail addresses without any problems. More on reddit.com

I had the same problem and I think I solved it by signing out of iCloud on my phone then signing back in. The toggle button was then available to turn on ICloud Mail. More on reddit.com

April 11, 2024A little bit of my experience with iCloud mail
Email isn’t that important to me honestly, which is likely the biggest reason why the Mail app works fine for me. I don’t have any issues with the service and I receive 100x less spam than I ever did with Gmail. I switched to iCloud 5 years ago and what I said then stands today. Gmail is just a tracking system, it’s a scam. More on reddit.com

I have a shared iCloud account I use for business purposes but I want to keep it completely separate from my regular emails to avoid any issues down the road. I already use the native app and the Outlook app for other things so those are eliminated. Apple already gives me headaches making me send email with the wrong email address as it is.
Any other free email apps that are compatible with an iCloud email address?
I don’t need anything fancy. Just literally needs to let me read emails. I can always do the maintenance on desktop when I am home.

If you’re privacy concerned, you should be really careful with free apps. How does the company makes money? If a product is free you’re the product. For me the best free email app, that supports iCloud is mail.app. I use it with my custom domain for work and 2 private mail addresses without any problems.

If you mean another email platform that can be pulled into Apple Mail, Gmail is free for the basic account with 15 GB storage. I prefer using the Gmail app directly though.
