If I paid a reinstatement fee to get my drivers license back does that mean it was revoked or just suspended. Chat
Paying a reinstatement fee typically indicates a suspended license, not a revocation. Suspension is a temporary withdrawal of driving privileges, often resolved by paying fees or meeting conditions.

r/DMV on Reddit: Confused about NYS license suspension and clearing it?
August 1, 2023 -

My license was suspended back in May because of no insurance coverage (I was unemployed for several months until recently). Anyways I turned in my plates and I just received a letter from the DMV saying this:

“You must IMMEDIATELY turn in your NYS driver License (including any duplicates) to the DMV office listed below. The time period you must wait before you can drive again will not begin until you have turned in the items listed above or have notified the Department that you are unable to do so. You are eligible for a restricted license. Contact the nearest NYS DMV office. The fee for a restricted use License is $75.00. There may be additional fees. To clear this suspension, you must pay a $50 suspension termination fee.”

For context my drivers license will be suspended for 159 days effective May 15th 2023.

Now here are my questions.

If I pay the suspension fee, will that clear my license suspension immediately or do I still have to wait the 156 days before it’s cleared?

If I pay that fee (which I already did, as of today) does that mean I still have to turn in my license?

If I get a restricted license, am I able to get insurance? And if so, will the DMV reinstate my vehicle’s registration or do I have to pay AGAIN for registration?

I have a similar situation, I had no idea my license was suspended. I thought after I paid the termination suspension fee I could drive immediately. After being pulled over arrested and getting out of jail on a DAT, I found out at the dmv you still have to wait the suspension period even if you paid. My court date is 7/28, do I have to worry about possibly going back to jail? I’m ok paying a fine for messing up that minor detail, but is jail time on the table?

In the year of 1997 I was falsely arrested for leaving the scene of an accident in a busy intersection and broad daylight. Stating that I dragged someone 17 feet with my vehicle, which was a lie, a big one too cause I did not have an accident. The guy died from a seizure that he has been struggling with a long time based on the doctors record. I was young did not understand the law I appeal the case when I was in jail by jail mate doing the paperwork I was denied. After serving time and come out, I try to get my drivers license back a couple of years later. and I was denied. I caused the death of someone. Which is a complete line story the police make up to get an indictment. A family member went along with it and a far weakness a crazy man off the street. They dressed up to come and testify. I definitely never had an accident, never leave the scene of accident because there was no accident this was just story made up by YT police officers and the whole entire Supreme Court actors and actresses to spoil my repetition. And now motor vehicle refused to give me back my drivers privilege even when I'm living in another state it's hard for me to get around me from a job Never had a criminal record, the criminal record have his motor vehicle. Give it to me still denying me from having the drivers privilege restored. No doubt when you drive a taxi cab a commercial vehicle in New York. You've been targeted by the police who happened to be YT.
