My license was suspended back in May because of no insurance coverage (I was unemployed for several months until recently). Anyways I turned in my plates and I just received a letter from the DMV saying this:
“You must IMMEDIATELY turn in your NYS driver License (including any duplicates) to the DMV office listed below. The time period you must wait before you can drive again will not begin until you have turned in the items listed above or have notified the Department that you are unable to do so. You are eligible for a restricted license. Contact the nearest NYS DMV office. The fee for a restricted use License is $75.00. There may be additional fees. To clear this suspension, you must pay a $50 suspension termination fee.”
For context my drivers license will be suspended for 159 days effective May 15th 2023.
Now here are my questions.
If I pay the suspension fee, will that clear my license suspension immediately or do I still have to wait the 156 days before it’s cleared?
If I pay that fee (which I already did, as of today) does that mean I still have to turn in my license?
If I get a restricted license, am I able to get insurance? And if so, will the DMV reinstate my vehicle’s registration or do I have to pay AGAIN for registration?
