I found this on Pinterest and it lead me to a Danish interior design influencer. From what I could translate it sounds like she used kitchen wall cabinets to create this and added padding to create the bench. Does that sound feasible? I’m wondering if it’s realistic to expect the cabinet to be able to hold someone’s weight while sitting on it
Ikea’s website doesn’t list weigh limits, despite advertising as benches to sit on with a cushion seat.
This will be going in the kitchen so ideally a pull out like the Smastad for pots and pans. Alternatively the Besta. Does anyone recommend?
Hello all,
I’m thinking of using IKEA Sektion kitchen cabinets (upper cabinets) to form a storage cum seating solution for a nook in my living room. The idea is to mount these cabinets on a rail about 20inches off the ground and put cushions on top. I’ll also instal metal legs beneath (possibly on a plywood piece running across the bottom and screwed into the cabinet sides).
The width (left to right as you face the cabinets) would be approx 48 inches to 52 inches. The max weight in the cabinets would be say 30 kilos, and people sitting on them would wring a total of say 150 kilos.
I wonder if the cabinets would bear the sitting weight on them. Any ideas (for or against) would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
