Hi Karen,
Add a baton to your wall. Fix a baton to the back of the Bookshelf. Add a hinge or three and then fix to wall baton. Then push the bed back. Otherwise if you have fixings at the end of the bed, you can make or buy the timber forks to fit over them that screw to the headboard. Best wishes.

Hey everyone, I just joined this community as I absolutely LOVE IKEA hacks and I'm hoping I can get some help. I need to get a new bed as mine just broke. It was flimsy particle board. I have a dire need a storage space in my room so I want to finally try doing an IKEA bookcase bed. Ideally I'd make the base out of bookcases and then I want to have a bookcase headboard but I want it to be made of several bookcases vertical. Like going up to my ceiling if possible. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen anything remotely like what I'm saying? I'm not even sure if I'm explaining it right. The size I'm going for is a queen size bed. I have a piece of plywood already cut for putting on top of the bookcases making the frame.

Hello Karen,
Not sure what you Ikea bookshelf looks like, but here is what 1 person did:

I bought the brimnes bed and I love it BUT the headboard is giving me major anxiety. I have two cats that love playing on my furniture and when I sleep I tend to press against my headboard alot. So I'm concerned, how safe is it unattached?
I don't really want to screw it into the wall as I don't want to damage my wall, if I decide to move the bed it'll be a pain fixing thay damage. But I can't find other ways to secure it. I saw a hack about adding legs but I'm not super good with woodworking. And I don't want the legs to interfere with the trim as I like putting my bed right against the wall. It's already scratched my wall twice just when I was trying to straighten it up.
Owners of brimnes beds what did you do with the headboard to secure it?
And off topic but is the headboard supposed to like up with the frame? Because no matter what I do one side ends up over the edge. Like if I line up the right side its overlapping on the left and vice versa
