I finished assembling the HEMNES day bed and when closed, the slats of the fixed unit don’t align vertically with the slats of the movable unit. They have a significant vertical gap at the back. Is that how it is supposed to be? The slats look perfectly aligned in photos and the assembly videos on youtube.
I have checked and rechecked the assembly instructions and i dont seem to have done anything wrong.
Does anyone have a copy of the instructions for the Hemnes 2-drawer daybed (892.396.54)?

June 24, 2021Help! Ikea Hemnes daybed incredibly difficult to pull out after assembly.
The first thing that comes to mind is that it might be sitting on some carpet or other floor surface that doesn't interact well with the wheels. Is it just as hard to move the pullout section if it's by itself, not placed under the other part of the bed? More on reddit.com

I am trying to assemble a Hemnes daybed from Ikea.
I have built the main structure but when sliding the bed extension part under the main frame, it doesn’t seem to fit properly and I have a gap on both sides (top only with bottom sitting flush).
I have reread the manual a million times but can’t figure out what’s wrong.
Can anyone please help?

If you like me found this post because your bed is also misaligned in the same way. Then the piece that the OP posted is upside down is the long metal bracket at the front of the trundle. This piece logically was probably put in L side down like the long metal bracket at the back of the trundle. BUT it should be put in L side up at the front and L side down at the back.
