Hi all, I've been eyeing this thread here and there and see so many great ideas, I'm hoping you creative people can suggest some solutions for my dilemma!
We have baby #2 on the way so are converting our office/my getting ready room to a kids room and I have no where to get ready now. My husband typically sleeps longer, so it can't be our room, our bathrooms are small with no counterspace, and we have pretty much no wall space left in our living room or other non-bedroom areas for much new furniture.
My current thought is something I think I first found here. It's a simple narrow bookcase with a custom door that folds down into a bit of a table. My thought is I could hide my skincare/ makeup products in there, using the fold down door as a bit of a table, and then hide it all when out of use. This way it could go in the kitchen, with the open shelves being used as kitchen storage.
Any experience with this type of hack, or better ideas?
So I recently moved and finally have space for a vanity - hooray! Thanks to this sub, I knew I wanted a micke desk from Ikea as my vanity... but then I had forgotten about the pandemic. Now basically everything is not in stock! I’ve tried going through the posts but most of them were utilizing things from Ikea.
So here’s my question - what inexpensive alternatives could I find to use as my vanity that’s not from Ikea? Any suggestions or tip would be greatly appreciated! Right now my makeup is still in a box on the floor😂
Hey guys, I really want to buy a new vanity desk. I am planning to make a DIY desk from ikea. I already have 2 Alex drawers, so I’m debating whether I should get a table top with glass ontop shown in the first pic or if I should get the komplement set from ikea which is shown on the 2nd pic. My only concern is that I don’t know if it will be assturdy as the first option because I am still in college and I usually do my assignments on my desk. I’m doing a DIY desk from ikea cuz ya girl is on a budget and I need to find cheaper mirrors as well! But yeah, I feel like getting a new desk would compliment my room a lot better. This is going to be my first time owning a vanity desk so I also wanna know which would be cuter. By the way, these pics are from Pinterest!
I’ve been seeing this IKEA Alex vanity hack all over TikTok but nobody is actually telling how to build it. It’s the one where you buy 2 Alex drawers, a komplement pullout tray and a komplement glass top. I have did some research and was only able to find an old video about it but they had subheadings for the instructions. It’s hard to know where to measure and where to drill holes from that video so if anyone knows how to build this please share it here.
