I bought an ikea dining table back when Ikea came to the USA in the 90s. Still have it ( well my kid has it) it's solid wood, gets beat up, then sanded and looks like new again. More on reddit.com

Most particleboard tables have veneer on them which makes them fairly sturdy. The jokkmokk is real wood but considerably less sturdy in my opinion than say the ekedalen. The pintorp looks nice and is real wood and within your price range. More on reddit.com
