Where to find washing instructions for very old futon cover?

So I have this old ikea futon that I have no use for indoors anymore. I was trying to see if I could transform it for outdoor use on my balcony.
this is the ikea futon for reference
It has some exposed bare wood underneath and painted metal legs.
For the wood, I was thinking of using a wood sealer like Thompson’s water seal.
For the metal legs, I was thinking of just using some Rust-oleum spray paint.
For the cushion, I’m still deciding what’s the best way to approach this. I was thinking about using a waterproof futon cover and stapling it down with rustproof staples.
Not sure if this project seems ambitious or if it’s even worth doing vs just buying seating meant for outdoors. But all suggestions are welcome. This is the first time I’ve ever done something like this, so all help is appreciated!
TLDR: looking for tips to “outdoor proof” some indoor furniture that has bare wood, metal, and cushions.
