I’d personally get just the 1-2 Alex drawers and ditch the ikea countertop, I actually work at ikea and most of their countertops are made of cardboard, particle board, and have a cheap veneer. They are also known to sag over time, even the “wood”ones Instead for the countertop you can go to a hardware store (Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc) and buy a big slab of butcher block for about

Just bought Ekbacken in walnut laminate. Really nice, happy with it so far! Returned the Karlby one as I did not like the surface, a bit rough and did not seem as solid. Ekbacken is cheaper as well, so win win.

I'm using the Saljan with 2 trestles and one leg in the middle, it's been enough for my 2 monitors and PC.

Looking to make a nice gaming desk with Ikea furniture. I was thinking of going with two of the Alex Drawer Unit's and either the Karlby Countertop. Has anyone successfully done this? How did you attach the pieces together? Feel free to ask any clarifying questions with a comment.

I've gone with the Alex drawer and cupboard and some legs (2.8m expanse) and used a pair of 150x75 Linnmons as the top, the Alex units come with rubber bobbles that they suggest are used to stop the tabletop moving, but you could just screw into it through Alex if you were concerned about movement. I didn't use the bobbles as it's a wall to wall desk.

You could use some brackets to keep it all in place. I'd definitely suggest getting VESA mounted monitor arms, too.
