So I am in the middle of packing for a move. The landlord is letting me have the bed frame I was using. He didn’t have instructions but the frame has Hemnes on it so I found the PDF of the Assembly instructions.
I feel so frustrated. Is Ikea furniture hard to disassemble? I don’t know why I can’t figure this out. I’m looking at the instructions PDF but I can’t figure it out. I feel close to just giving up and leaving it for trash. 😂
And some parts look different in the pictures then my bed. But overall it is my bed plus I did double-check that Hemnes is the mode name on the frame. There are 4 screws with nuts on them, holding the sides of the frame to the headboard and foot of the bed. But they are in these weird little circle openings that I can’t fit a socket wrench in to remove the nut. And I definitely can’t fit a drill or screwdriver in there either.
This post probably doesn’t make sense but I am at my wit’s end. 😂 Are these frames not meant to be taken apart?

The bedframe comes with a small wrench, but its likely been lost to time. If you have some needle nose pliers, that should allow you to loosen the nuts off enough to spin them off with your finger. If you don't have them currently, whatever they have at the Dollar store/pound shop should work well enough. The threaded rod can then be unscrewed from the head/foot-boards to make it more compact. I've moved twice with my Hemnes and it's survived.

I have just finished putting together our new Hemnes day bed but when pushing it to close into a single it’s not fully closing flush. What am I missing here? It’s driving me crazy… See pictures attached.
I’ve triple checked the instructions, all seems in order anyone got any ideas? Thanks 🙏

I absolutely hate this bed for the single reason it’s a PIA to make.

It's really not possible to judge what went wrong from these two photos, and with mattresses in place. The first thing I would have checked though is whether or not the metal rail on the outer bed is upside down.

Remove & bundle bed slats. (Recommend starting from the headboard and layer each slat to the middle of the bed. Then proceed to the footboard and repeat layering each slat till the middle of the bed. At the middle the slats should be neatly stacked. Use a rope to bundle up the slats.

I finished assembling the HEMNES day bed and when closed, the slats of the fixed unit don’t align vertically with the slats of the movable unit. They have a significant vertical gap at the back. Is that how it is supposed to be? The slats look perfectly aligned in photos and the assembly videos on youtube.
I have checked and rechecked the assembly instructions and i dont seem to have done anything wrong.
