We have an appointment with Ikea's kitchen planning folks coming up, and we were just wondering what to expect and how best to prepare (aside from picking out the door style/general layout). They will be at our house for 4 hours, to include measuring, so I imagine that could go pretty quick if we're trying to make any last minute decisions.
I have paid to have Ikea come in and measure my kitchen. I believe this is done by a local 3rd party, but I am not sure. Does anyone have any experience with this service and renovating their kitchen with Ikea? Any tips etc. you could share?
I have already chosen the Ikea finishes and know that I want an undermount sink. However, I plan to get the sink and faucet from home depot instead of Ikea. I will also be getting a 3rd party counter vs. ikea counters.
TIA.
I am located in the EU and we ordered a kitchen from IKEA and used their measuring, design, and assembly services. All through IKEA. While the technician was assembling the kitchen, he realized that there were problems. This was the result:
The measuring/assembly company measured incorrectly since the walls sloped inwards, meaning everything won't fit.
The measuring/assembly company didn't make the right measurements.
IKEA admits via email that the designer should have accounted for some centimeter(s) on each side, since it's the cabinets are clearly swollen if they don't even fit in the widest part.
They tried to design other options that all look terrible, break the symmetry, and results in lost space. The kitchen I paid for and wanted is not possible, and they are asking us to compromise.
The boss of measuring/assembly company who actually did the measurements himself accused my wife on the phone of messing this all up for terrible reasons, such as her not making enough room somewhere for him to see, and such. He never asked us to do anything.
They are talking internally about a discount they can offer, but nothing is certain. My apartment is filled to the brim with all kitchen pieces, there is barely any space for living, I have no kitchen sink, stove, or oven.
What are my options? They are trying to give me options, but I'm doubting whether I even want to deal with this shit anymore. Help is very much appreciated.
