I ended up going on a Saturday without an appointment (stood outside ikea so I was one of the first people inside the store when it opened) and I was immediately seen—-if you’re close to a store might be worth a try.
I also did the online planning appointment too, those booked a few weeks out.

We are about to pull the trigger on our IKEA kitchen. We have created the kitchen in the design tool, and are at the point of needing to verify the design with an IKEA professional and put the order in.
I've read that it is best to go to the store and order with someone from IKEA. The options for scheduling an appointment are In-Store Planning (90 minutes) Kitchen Consultation (30 minutes) or online Plan Verification (30 minutes). None of these options seem to fit with what what we need to do, which is verify the plan and place an order in store.
Has anyone had any experience with the in store planning options? If we schedule the 90 minute In Store Planning option will that person be able to verify the plan and place an order? Should we verify on-line, and make an instore appointment to place the order?

Pay for the 90 min session. How much is it $100? They will give you a lot of insight and possibly save you from measuring mistakes.

I saw availability last night for an in person appointment today. I didn't get a call to confirm it so I called IKEA customer support (888) 888-4532 to confirm. Lady on the phone confirmed it but said that it's actually online and gave me a number to call if I didn't get a link to a video chat, so I didn't go to the store.
Come 1:30p no one reached out so I call the number and it turns out it's Traemand and they said the appointment is actually in-store and I've missed my appointment.
I'm over it. Took the day off and everything.
Now, can I just plan it myself? I've measured and sketched it out, I just need tips for ordering that aren't obvious on the website. Anyone have experience doing this?

I didn't get an appointment or use the online planner. I took my own measurements, drew both plans and elevations on graph paper, and went through the kitchen planner catalog section by section to make sure I didn't miss any elements. You can write out a list, or if you have a Ikea Family account, add everything to your shopping bag. Then, when you go in, the kitchen ordering employee can pull up your bag, order what's available in store and in the distribution warehouse, and put in your backorder for what's not available. I do recommend, if you haven't already, taking an hour or more to go through all of the showroom kitchens to see what kind of cool combinations you can make. Also, visit Rev-a-shelf.com to see what kind of non-Ikea options are out there for things like lazy susans, mixer lifts, and narrow storage. I also strongly suggest going through everything in your current kitchen to figure out what you need and how to organize it into a smooth workflow. For my roughly U shaped kitchen, I organized it into plating/beverages, prep, food storage, cooking, and baking as you moved from left to right. Technically, I had less storage space afterwards than I did before, but I could use it far more efficiently. So, I ended up copying and pasting some of the images I'd created in my schematic from the planner. With all of these technology problems, my expectations were't too high. Our appointment was for 2 hours, and we used nearly every minute of it.
