Made my malm night stand taller
Cut some 2x4’s to 14 1/2 inches in length potted holes to connect it to the night stand. Found some legs off Amazon that were 6 inches. Basically all you need is 2 2x4’s Cut them down to 14 1/2 then do pocket holes. Connect them to dresses one on the front for front legs one on back for back legs. Connect the legs boom your done. All in 3-40 bucks (cost of legs).

I recently painted my malm dresser fully and used primer then paint. I would say for just adding designs to it, you should clean the surface really well and then apply a chalk paint as it adheres best to veneers. I used a latex paint which worked pretty well, too.

I want to recreate a floral design on my Malm bedside table, but I’m not sure the kind of prep needed. I read about priming and sanding but I’m only doing a partial floral pattern, so would I still need to prime it all or just the parts I paint ? I was thinking maybe I could use regular craft acrylic paint to give me room for error and start over as needed. I’m very new to this kind of diy so sorry for the basic questions

I haven’t done it yet, but most of the things I’ve seen where ikea furniture is painted they give it a good clean, and then use a shellac primer to paint directly onto the surface without sanding. You can then paint over the primer.
