We are moving our children into our spare room, where there is an existing old, large PAX wardrobe 50-100-100 with rails and a few shelves. We were planning to retrofit the PAX to be essentially a dresser and wardrobe for them by buying 4 drawers each to put into the 100cm sections with a rail (which we already have) on top. However, they each currently have a 4-drawer MALM dresser in their room. In order to save the £240 and trouble of installing the drawers and selling the old MALMs, can I just literally place the MALMs into the PAX? There is space for them each to have a dresser with the rails above. However, I'm concerned about the weight of the MALMs and if the PAX can handle that. Has anyone done this?

Note: I'd prefer to just remove the old PAX and move their existing furniture into the other room, but we rent and the landlord won't let us take down the old PAX.

Update: we’ve just gone ahead and put the MALMs in and will hope for the best. It will save a lot of money and trouble on our end.

We have two MALM dressers in our bedroom but need more storage and a way to hang clothes. Could I put the MALM’s inside the PAX? Size wise the MALM’s would fit into the PAX but will it be able to hold the weight? Has anyone tried this? I would prefer to skip having to resell the MALM then have to buy the bottom half of the PAX to make up for what I already have.
