Hah! I've been using one of these desks, daily, for about... thirteen years? You see that strut down the middle of the back? I screwed a monitor support VESA support arm to it which I've attached a 24" monitor which sits just forward of the upper struts. I've also screwed another VESA support to the right side of the desk - the bolts passing through the solid right-side leg/support of the desk and holding up what I think is an 18" side monitor. As a bonus this can be rotated 90 degrees for viewing code when needed. This keeps the monitors in the air leaving me the entire desktop for keyboard / mouse / copious junk. In terms of your proposed modification - no, I don't think you could do that because the sides and the back are separate pieces and are both supported and connected by the parts you're removing. You CAN - and I have - remove the shelves and the bullshit document cabinet they stick between these struts and get some space back that way. My desktop PC lives in the left hand cubby and I've had a little printer in the right side. More on reddit.com

May 13, 2019Has anyone had to disassemble the Micke corner workstation to put it in a different room?
The "locking screws" (those big ones you probably covered with stickers when you assembled it) are hard to unscrew, the trick is to not try to fully unscrew them but instead go very slowly until whatever it's screwing together comes loose!

Hello everyone! So I am not super knowledgeable about this stuff but recently ran into dilemma of needing a new desk and this is only one I can find that’s got perfect measurements for my little corner. The problem is that it won’t fit my dual monitors with the shelving. I wanted to make it go from this to this (pictures inserted) but I am wondering if there anyway at all to do that without loosing structural stability and integrity? Like if have to get metal support rods etc. I don’t want to fork out for the desk just to throw away half of it as that would be a waste of my money so I thought I would ask here! Any help is much appreciated!

I have a dual monitor setup on this exact desk. I got some wood of the same thickness as the pieces for this, made shorter uprights, and used the top pieces of the shelving element to make a monitor riser which has two 24" monitors and a laptop on it. Super effective, highly recommended! You basically just need 4 identical bits of wood and a corner post
