So I got myself into a bit of a mess and work that I don't want to do if not necessary.
To connect Oversidan Pax lighting, you are supposed to drill up, up, up through the wardrobe and the shelves and everything. If you have multiple Oversidan lights in one unit, god help you, as you have to drill many holes, one for each cable, through many shelves and the wardrobe top, too.
So I was thinking and I can't find a downside, but maybe someone will: what if I just drill through the backside plywood, before the wardrobes are placed against the walls, and run cables through there? One hole for each Oversidan, no ugly cables inside the wardrobes, no multiple holes.
Am I missing something? Can someone think of a reason why not to do this?

Hi all, I’m planning to order this IKEA Pax System with interior lighting (Oversidan LED Lighting strip 96cm). I would like to have an LED light for each shelf, so I’ll need about 18 in total. I know that I’ll also need the Tradfri LED driver, Ansluta power cord, and Rodret dimmer as well.
Should I purchase 3 Tradfri LED drivers, 3 power cords and 3 dimmers as there are 3 frames in total?
I'm about to order a PAX wardrobe setup with open shelving and want to manually controll lights to turn on via the main powered switch. I want to avoid wireless and battery operated lighting. Do Ikea still offer a simple LED and overhead lighting setup that I can hard wire into the mains?
Or if not, can I bypass the wireless hub/tech?
Thanks in advance
Planning my Pax wardrobe and wanting to use the Oversidan lighting. The wardrobe will be in a dark corner of our bedroom and I'm often up before my husband so this is the only lighting I'll have to see what's inside.
My current design has shelves along the top, then clothes rails underneath and shelves at the bottom. Would running 1 row of the lighting along the very top be enough, or should I also run another row under the shelf (but above the clothes rail)?
