August 3, 2022 - The most important thing to note when adding legs to the IKEA RAST dresser is to attach additional pieces of wood across the hollow bottom of the dresser. Use finishing nails and wood screws to secure these pieces to the RAST frame. Be very careful so you don’t split your wood.

I refer to left and right in relation to facing the front of the dresser. The dresser on the left is A, and on the right is B. See diagram below. These instructions are what I would consider the best way to go about this. I, however, was feeling my way through this, and the pictures show that.

The lattice helped hide the small gap between the top of the rast and the bottom of the 1x top. Lastly, I created the look of recessed panels by trimming out the drawers and sides with lattice. I had wanted to add some fancy-schmancy knobs, but after multiplying even the most basic knobs by 24, I decided to just go ahead and paint the wooden knobs that came with the dressers and call it a day. With one of the carcass sides laying down on its outer face, I could align and fix one end of the top (no glue) with the supplied metal screws. As with previous Ikea product assemblies, I’m using my impact driver because I find it’s much easier and quicker than the tiny allen keys they supply.
