June 19, 2024 - This IKEA nightstand hack is a great way to customize an inexpensive dresser into a nightstand that fits your home! It’s done! It’s done! I finished my new bedside tables and can I say that I love them!! I wanted matching, nice bedside tables for our new bedroom, but I didn’t have a bunch of money to spend, so I did an IKEA Rast Hack.

June 18, 2024 - STEP 1: Open your IKEA box and identify all the dresser components. Find the two side pieces and lay them out on the ground with the line of holes at the top. Measure 2.5 inches from the bottom of both sheets of wood and draw a line across. **NOTE: There may be newer or older versions of the RAST dresser so these measurements will be for my current (May 2022) version of the dresser.

I started this project by filling the knob holes in the drawers with wood filler and cutting the lattice trim to size. 2. I attached the lattice “trim work” to the drawer fronts and sides of the nightstand with wood glue and ¾ inch brad nails.

September 1, 2025 - And then I put cardboard underneath the nightstand body, so I could stain the legs without getting it on the ground. I used Special Walnut stain. It wouldn’t hurt to sand them first, but the wood comes so raw that I didn’t sand them and was happy with the end result. The Rast comes with wooden knobs.

April 22, 2018 - Step 1: Using a Circular Saw or Table Saw or Jigsaw cut the Rast Chest shorter on the bottom frame & make the table top flush. You will also have to cut the footer piece shorter to match. Step 2: Outline a curve into the footer of the nightstand.
