Wanted a table/shelf next to the couch that didn’t need to be secured to the wall… got crafty with an EKBY ALEX shelf and some BURGSHULT shelves. It had to be tall enough that you could open the storage portion of the couch so even though it looks a little funky it actually works perfectly!
It’s awkward and not perfect, but it does exactly what I needed it too and I’m proud of it!

We purchased a normal chest of drawers, 3 large drawers meant for clothes, we needed the extra storage, I also looked at children’s chest of drawers because it would be slightly lower, bedside tables are useless. More on reddit.com

I am looking to get a new bed side table but I want it to be specifically for my needs and I'm not sure if Ikea carries something like this or I need to DIY it (I might not have the mind space to DIY things though, unless it's very simple). My current one is leather and I don't like how it sticks to some things and how it builds up dirt.
Here are some of the things I want for my bed side table:
- Open storage. I'm an out of sight, out of mind person. My current nightstand is closed and I have no clue what's in where.
- Relating to first point, I want it to be where I can put some of my important things and not just a table to put a lamp on top of it. I put my water bottle, books, wallet, charging ports, etc on top of my nightstand. I think I prefer it to be multi-tier / multi-cubby.
- Doesn't have glass. I'm very clumsy.
- Dimensions: Anything similar to these dimensions - 22" (56cm) height, 21" (53.34cm) length, 17.5" (44.5cm) depth.
- If it helps to match things design-wise, my bed frame is the Sagstua in black. But I'm a bit open to any style and I also don't mind color.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I use a 2x2 Kallax with castor wheels on it. The lower two cubes have a wire basket in them so the stuff in there is visible enough to recognise but not too obvious. The upper two cubes have a couple of smaller trays/containers to store all my random bits and pieces. Having it on wheels is really nice because I can swing it right against the bed - I have an electric bed where the head and foot raises (like a hospital bed) but it makes it almost impossible to reach back to a conventional bedside table with the head up, so having something I can grab and pull around to me is really nice.
