Hi yall I’m planning on getting a new desk and I’m also planning on attaching a monitor arm, pegboard and a lamp to the desk so a solid desktop recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

You can always go the kitchentop custom sized route but it will be very expensive (400+ only for the top). I suggest going to your local home depot to search for a 200x75cm wood piece, at least 21mm maybe more, you will need a fifth leg in the midde at least. Or you can stick with a 150x75cm standard ikea desk and you use an Alex Drawer on the side of it to compensate for the missing 50cm

I suggest at least an 80cm wide of the desk. Look it up, less than 80cm becomes annoying/to small

not sure if this is the right subreddit for that
so i am generally looking to get a new desk. one that allows me to install a vesa arm on it - either through a hole or with a clamp.
does ikea currently sell any desk tops that are solid enough to do that? i currently have an ikea desk, micke, but thats definitely not solid. also due to how its build i cant install a vesa arm on it anyway.

They used to sell a model that was so perfect, I bought it twice and refinished them myself. I don't think they do anymore. It was called the gerkin. Was not really all that expensive, between 1 and 2 hundred.

If you look through products on Ikea's website, it lists what materials their desktops and countertops are made out of. Avoid the ones that have a honeycomb paper filling. Particleboard is okay. I have a Gerton, which is solid wood, but I'm not sure if they sell that anymore. You could get a butcherblock made to the dimensions you want through like a carpentry shop.

I’m thinking of building a gaming desk using a 55 1/8 x 23 5/8 LAGKAPTEN tabletop and 2 ALEX drawers. I was just wondering if it would be durable enough to hold a gaming PC, two monitors, mouse, keyboard and also me possibly leaning my arms/elbows on it. Worst comes to worst I can just put the PC under it but I just want to make sure it doesn’t snap in half while I’m using it or while I’m not home. Not exactly sure from the description how durable it really is. Thank you!

LAGKAPTEN and its predecessor LINNMON are made of the same materials; basically a Fiberboard top and Honeycomb structure paper filling.
If you plan to use it, note 2 problems-

Don't ever get the top wet, water spills etc. If it penetrates, it will develop unsightly bubbles on the surface.

The center will sag over time.
This is from use as a table with a full tower desktop on it over several years. On the plus side, it survived years so yes, you could say it's durable.

Those kinds of table tops are pretty strong as to how much weight they can hold, I wouldn't worry about it. My gf has that setup and it's been doing fine for over a year.
