You definitely could in a couple of different ways. You could literally saw off the current headboard at the spot where it meets the frame. You could then add a headboard to the wall as opposed to the bed. You can buy one ready made or make your own. If you don’t want to saw off the current headboard, you could build one and attach it to the current headboard or make one that would slip over the current one. Your new headboard could be just wood or you could upholster it. Either way, you still have to leave room for the mattress to fit within the frame. So, whatever you add would likely not be able to go all the way down to the frame, but instead would only cover the four rungs of the headboard. Another possibility (and likely one of the easiest) would be to buy a headboard that you could hang from the top rung of the TARVA headboard. Here’s one example: https://nathanjames.com/products/charlie-headboard-king-size-wall-mount-rail?variant=40110879703126¤cy=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=Boucle+Upholstered+King+Wall+Mount+Headboard&utm_campaign=shopping&nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ag%3A20740457401%3A156018710558%3A679256523275&nb_adtype=pla&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=pla-2290836966893&nb_mi=451169765&nb_pc=online&nb_pi=shopify_US_6727554007126_40110879703126&nb_ppi=2290836966893&nb_placement=&nb_si=%7Bsourceid%7D&nb_li_ms=&nb_lp_ms=&nb_fii=&nb_ap=&nb_mt=&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAABHkXOoxqrZ2157irOtY_RdeF4Axp&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu-63BhC9ARIsAMMTLXSyt4VR-UH8R-g2arMFXWLh0IRhtA6TtIvdRmwuZAm9AiA_IWyTuEQaAql9EALw_wcB Last option would be to buy a headboard that slip overs your current headboard. Here is an example of one like that: https://www.amazon.com/Headboard-Slipcover-Dustproof-Protector-Upholstered/dp/B0CDGHZ8M1/ref=asc_df_B0CDGHZ8M1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693071387728&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3069011717236322139&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012572&hvtargid=pla-2205795519558&psc=1&mcid=76b97ad0b7c6358bb91ba98f72a70940 Answer from nenecope on reddit.com

r/IKEA on Reddit: Good DIY Tarva bed headboard hack?
October 1, 2024 -
I'm planning to upgrade from a full-size bed to a queen. The only issue is my bedroom is not that large and even just a few inches can help so that one side isn't right up against the wall. The two I'm considering are the Tarva frame and the Malm, which is slightly wider. However, even though the Tarva is solid wood, I kind of prefer the look of the Malm because of the solid headboard.
I am considering the option of getting the Tarva and trying to DIY a solid headboard, by just adding a board, but I haven't seen any examples of this.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Have you seen a good DIY for the Tarva? I have seen people add rattan or weaving, but I'm really looking for a solid headboard look. Thanks

Ikea Tarva Bed Hack - Green Healthy Cooking
September 8, 2020 - So I looked for ways to “pimp” a less pretty but also less expensive bed and after some research found out that there are two simple Ikea beds that are made of unvarnished solid wood. Varnished would have worked as well but would have required sanding and why add a step when not necessary? So I chose the one I liked the better which was the Tarva Bed and then went to my local hardware store to choose a bunch of those color shade cards they let you take home to decide on which color you like the best.
